Letter of Apostle Matthew – The Gospel
An Intimate Review
Pt 3
By Lawrence DeMetrius

Matthew 5:21-26
Dealing with Anger and Adversary

In this passage, Jesus Christ addresses common offences that people commit toward one another. One such offence is being ANGRY without CAUSE.

*angry Gk #3710 orgidzo (or-gid-zo) it means to provoke, enrage, or become intensely or violently irritated or annoyed

*without cause Gk #1500 eikay (i-kay) it means idly, in vain and without reason or effect

Per Christ, those who allow themselves to be ANGRY WITHOUT CAUSE is in DANGER of divine JUDGMENT.

*danger Gk #1777 enochos (en-okh-os) it means to be guilty or liable to a condition, penalty or imputation

*judgment Gk #2920 krisis (kree-sis) it is a decision of a court of justice, seat of judgment, accusation, condemnation and damnation

Per Christ, another common offence people commit is to SAY to another, RACA.

*say Gk #2036 epo (e-po) it means to speak or say something

*raca Gk #4469 rhaka (hrak-ah) is a term of disrespect that regards a person as empty, worthless and vile

One must beware what they SAY in regard to self and others because the power of life and death is within one’s tongue. [Pro 18:21; 12:18; 15:4] Everyone is responsible for the manifestations their words produce. [Mt 12:36; Jam 4:11]
SAYING RACA is likened to administering words of destruction or death to a person’s holistic well-being. Per Christ, those who do this are in danger of the divine COUNCIL. SLANDER can also cause one to incur criminal charges in the courts of earth and heaven.

*council Gk #4892 sunedrion (soon-ed-ree-on) it is a joint session, specifically the Hebrew Sanhedrin or a subordinate tribunal

Per Jesus Christ, calling someone a FOOL can cause one to inherit HELL FIRE.

*fool Gk #3474 moros (mo-ros) it is a person who is heedless, slow-witted, ignorant, senseless, dull and stupid as if already shut up

To unjustly address someone as a FOOL is murderous. It is equivalent to stacking heavy stones on a person’s shoulders, causing them to sink deep into an abyss of nothingness. This is one the greatest offences one can commit toward another and will cause them to inherit HELL FIRE.

*hell Gk #1067 geenna (gheh-en-nah) it is the place or state of everlasting punishment

*fire Gk #4442 pur (poor) it is literally or figuratively fire, specifically lightning

FIRE can mean or be figurative of many things. However, the HELL FIRE mentioned in this statement, is an actual PLACE and STATE OF BEING. Having this understanding, one is admonished to control their tongue and never idly address another as a FOOL. Although Christ teaches His brethren to offer their GIFTS on the ALTAR of Yahweh, when they know that a BROTHER has an OUGHT against them, they are to make a sincere effort to rectify the situation, be RECONCILED to that BROTHER, then present their GIFTS to THE LORD. This gives credence to the idea, that Yahweh considers the health of BROTHERLY relationships more valuable than GIFTS offered at HIS ALTARS. Indeed, to obey is better than sacrifice in Yahweh’s perspective. [I Sam 15:22] Christ questioned why some call Him Lord and do not obey His instructions. [Lk 6:46] Apostle James notes, to him who knows to do good and does it not, to him it is sin. [Jam 4:17]

*gift Gk #1435 doron (do-ron) it is a present or sacrifice
*altar Gk #2379 thusiasterion (thoo-see-as-tay-ree-on) it is a place of sacrifice

*ought Gk #5100 tis (tis) it is any person or object and an obligation or duty

*against Gk #2596 kata (kat-ah) it denotes opposition, intensity, or distribution and a person with which one disagrees

*reconciled Gk #1259 diaklasso (dee-ak-las-so) it means to thoroughly change and mentally conciliate, which is to…
• overcome the distrust or hostility of
• win over an angry competitor
• gain the goodwill, regard and favor of another
• make compatible and become agreeable with again

*brother Gk #80 adelphos (ad-el-fos) it is a brother near or remote

It is especially important for Christians to entreat one another in a certain manner. The expression of genuine love toward one another is the proof of their relationship with Yahweh and HIS Christ. [Jn 13:34, 35] They are admonished to AGREE with their ADVERSARY before it invokes unfortunate consequence upon them. [Rm 12:18]

*agree Gk #2132 eunoeo (yoo-no-eh-o) it means to be well-off, well-minded, reconciled, in good health, sound in body and mind, satisfactory, pleasing, good, proper and gratifying

*adversary Gk #476 antidikos (an-tid-ee-kos) it is an opponent in a lawsuit and specifically Lucifer as the arch-enemy of all mortal beings

This is what born-again believers must continually practice, in order to maintain the holy communion that Yahweh expects them to maintain amongst themselves. It is difficult for satanic forces to infect beneficial relationships when divine love is continually practiced. When one is aware that they have wronged another, especially a Christian BROTHER, it is their personal responsibility to at least attempt to rectify that OUGHT. If they fail to do so, that BROTHER has a right to file a suit against them for the damages they suffered.
Though it is always necessary to forgive, it is also one’s responsibility to own up to the wrongs they have committed. King David writes,

If I regard iniquity in my heart, God will not hear my prayer.
[Ps 66:18]

Not only does negligence of right doing put a damper on one’s GIFTS to THE LORD, it will invoke upon them unfortunate consequence. This is so because what one sows, they reap. [Gal 6:9]
