Letter of Apostle Mark
An Intimate Review
Pt 8
By Lawrence DeMetrius
Traitors Among Us
In [Mk 14:1, 2, 10, 11, 17-21] as noted in Pt 7 “Death by Craft” [Mk 14:1, 2], anything that happened to Jesus Christ can happen to His disciples. Just as Judas Iscariot betrayed Him for money, the Elect should not be alarmed should someone who they entrust as a dear companion betray them. The purpose for Judas Iscariot’s betrayal was to fulfill divine prophecy.
The Place of Preparation is Already Reserved
In [Mk 14:12-15] Apostle Mark notes that every place in which divine ministry is to be administered has already been determined by THE LORD. As one follows HIS lead, they will find everything as it should be per HIS Word and will.
The Appointed Trial
In [Mk 14:32-52] Apostle Mark notes the anguish of Christ prior to His betrayal, trial and death on Calvary. The passage discloses how He asked of Yahweh if there was a less painful way to complete His mission. Any servant of GOD may seek a less challenging way to fulfill their true destiny. As in the case of Christ, Yahweh will always enable HIS sons to endure what they must to accomplish HIS will. [Rm 8:9; I Cor 10:13] Not only are certain challenges purposed to perfect them in righteousness but they create opportunity for many others to inherit salvation and spiritual perfection.
Confession to Death
In [Mk 14:53-65; 15] Apostle Mark notes that while Christ was constantly badgered with questions, He remained silent until He was asked a question worth answering. That primary question gave Him opportunity to reiterate His true identity as Yahweh’s Son. This truth would be the procuring cause of His ultimate sacrifice.
This truth is still the procuring cause of persecution received by effective Christian witnesses today. Those who opposed Jesus Christ in First Century Rome envied Him because of the great influence He had over great masses of followers, which they could not accomplish. This same hatred can be expressed towards effective Christian witnesses today. However, Yahweh remains in complete control of all HIS children encounter. If Yahweh did not permit the pains that Christ endured to occur, no mortal would have access to HIS MERCY and saving GRACE. [St Jn 3:16; Rm 5:1-5]
Jesus Christ the Risen Savior
In [Mk 16:15, 16; St Jn 3:19,36] Apostle Mark notes another incident where Jesus Christ endowed high honor to women by appearing to them first after His resurrection. He further substantiated that honor by rebuking the Original Apostles for their hardheartedness toward and disbelief in the report He instructed the women to give them concerning His resurrection. This gives credence to the idea that THE DIVINE GODHEAD does impart high honor and responsibilities to Daughters of the Christian Faith. After correcting them in love, He commissions them to GO and PREACH His GOSPEL, not politics, prosperity or cultural dogmas. [Mt 28:18-20] He decreed that anyone who genuinely believes in His Gospel and is BAPTIZED into His Church thereby will be SAVED from being DAMNED to Yahweh’s FIERY WRATH, which is prepared for Lucifer and his angels. [Mt 25:41; Rev 20:10-15; 21:8b]
*go Gk #4198 poreuomai (por-yoo-om-ahee) it means to travel, live and be removed, which figuratively means to die from one’s own will for the purpose of accomplishing Yahweh’s will
The ancient Greek word POREUOMAI (por-yoo-am-ahee) denotes the idea of dedicating one’s life solely to accomplishing the will of Yahweh, which is administering the message of salvation through faith in HIS Christ. [Jn 6:37-40; Mt 6:10, 24; 12:50; 16:24-26; I Jn 2:15-17]

Per [Mk 16:17] true BAPTIZED BELIEVERS are given authority to perform incredible feats in the NAME of Jesus Christ, beginning with effective administration of His GOSPEL. Apostle Mark also notes various SIGNS that FOLLOW those who genuinely BELIEVE in Jesus Christ and His GOSPEL.
*signs Gk #4592 semeion (say-mi-on) it is a supernatural and ceremonial indication

In the NAME of Jesus Christ, BAPTIZED BELIEVERS are authorized to CAST OUT DEVILS.
*cast out Gk #1544 ekballo (ek-ball-lo) it means to eject
*devils Gk #1140 daimonion (dahee-mon-ee-on) it is a demonic being, deity or god
DEVILS are oracles through which Lucifer’s influence is channeled. Regardless of what form they take, DEVILS can be EJECTED from the mortal mind with effective proclamation of Christ’s Word. True witnesses of Christ are empowered to SPEAK with NEW TONGUES, which has been imparted to holy oracles from the most ancient of times. [Isa 6:5-10; 50:4; Col 3:8, 9; 4:6; II Cor 5:17] The Upper Room experience at the first Pentecost following Christ’s resurrection, indicates that this gratuity is given to all born-again believers regardless of their ethnicity, tribe or tongue. The meaning of the message of salvation through Christ is the same for all nations. [Acts 1:8; 2:4]
*speak Gk #2980 laleo (lal-eh-o) it means to talk and utter words
*new Gk #2537 kai (kahee) kainos (kahee-nos) it means new, especially in freshness
*tongues Gk #1100 glossa (gloce-sah) it is literally the mortal tongue and language, namely one that is unacquired or not of one’s own nationality
TRUTH or LIE can be communicated in any language. Yahweh’s Word of Wisdom has been the same from Enoch to Jesus Christ and His Original Apostles. [Eno 37] It bears no private interpretation and is completely inspired by the Holy Ghost. [Lk 24:44, 45; Heb 1:1, 2; II Pet 1:20] It is the only WORD that destroys satanic influence over and within the mortal mind. This is why true oracles of Yahweh and Christ are always careful not to MISTRANSLATE or MISINTERPRET it. Hence, their personal devotion to continual and effective scriptural study. [Ps 1:1-3; 119:105, 127-130; Jos 1:8; Jn 8:31, 32, 36; II Tim 2:15; 3:16, 17] When such is applied by born-again believers, it nurtures profound oneness of mind concerning THE LORD’S Word of Wisdom and its meaning. To TRANSLATE is to turn a foreign language into one's own or to another language. To INTERPRET is to provide the meaning of a statement. It is widely accepted that the original language spoken by all was Hebrew until THE LORD invoked other languages per The Fall of Babel. [Gen 4] It was Lucifer who first INTERPRETED Yahweh’s Word erroneously in effort to trick mortals into disobedience.
Since that time, it has been the primary tactic used by satanic forces to seduce mortals into sin. [Gen 2:9, 17; 3:1-6; Jn 8:44; 10:10a] In [Mk 16:18] Apostle Mark notes that Jesus Christ empowers BAPTIZED BELIEVERS to TAKE UP SERPENTS.
*take up Gk #142 airo (ah-ee-ro) it means to...
• lift, take up and take away
• keep the mind in suspense which is…
o a state or condition of mental indecision, uncertainty or excitement
o doubt of the state or condition of affairs
o the state of being suspended
• per Hebrew culture it is to expiate sin, which is to atone, make amends and reparation for
*serpents Gk #3789 ophis (of-is) it is literally a snake and figuratively an artfully malicious person, especially Lucifer
• artful is to be…
o slyly crafty, cunning, tricky and deceitful
o ingenious, skillful and clever in adapting means to ends
o done with or characterized by art or skill
o artificial
• malicious is to be …
o full of, characterized by and showing malice
o intentionally harmful and spiteful
In short, Christ gives BAPTIZED BELIEVERS the ability to TAKE UP satanic forces and cast them of the mortal mind with the divine WORDS they SPEAK. [Isa 50:4; Lk 10:19; Jn 8:31, 32, 36; Rm 10:14, 15, 17; II Cor 4:3-7; 10:4, 5; I Jn 3:8; 5:22] Like Jesus Christ, born-again believers realize that the words they SPEAK on behalf of Yahweh mean life to all who BELIEVE them. [Jn 12:44-50] In [Mk 16:18b] Apostle Mark notes that BAPTIZED BELIEVERS will not be HURT if they should unknowingly DRINK a DEADLY THING.
*drink Gk #4095 pino (pee-no) it is to literally or figuratively imbibe, which is to…
• consume liquids by drinking
• absorb or soak up water, light or heat
• take or receive into the mind knowledge, ideas and such [Jn 8:12]
*deadly Gk #2286 thanasimos (than-as-see-mos) it means fatal and poisonous
*thing Gk #3056 logos (log-os) it refers to…
• something said including the thought
• a topic or subject of discourse such as a lesson, doctrine or philosophy
• a reasoning or motive of the mental faculty
• a computation which is a making sense of something
• a Divine expression like Christ the Word
*hurt Gk #984 blapto (blap-to) it means to hurt and injure [Jn 10:10]
THINGS here refer to anti-Christ teachings that are presented as divine truth but in fact are craftly fashioned lies, purposed to HURT and diminish one’s FAITH in Christ the Word. Christ warned that such deceivers would become numerous and if possible, will deceive the very Elect. [Mt 24: 5, 11, 24; I Jn 2:18-29] This is why BAPTIZED BELIEVERS are to always TRY or TEST all SPIRITS or TEACHINGS, by evaluating their MEANINGS to determine if they are of GOD. [Mt 7:15-21; I Jn 4:1-6] In [Mk 16:18c] Apostle Mark notes that Jesus Christ empowers BAPTIZED BELIEVERS to LAY HANDS on the SICK and they will RECOVER.
*lay Gk #2007 epitithemi (ep-ee-tith-ay-mee) it means to impose in a friendly or hostile sense, which is to…
• lay on or set as something to be borne, endured, obeyed, fulfilled or paid
• put or set by as if by authority
• thrust oneself or their company upon others
*hands Gk #5495 cheir (khire) it is literally the hand, figuratively power and per the Hebrew culture a means or instrument by which a thing is accomplished
*sick Gk #732 arrhostos (ar-hroce-tos) it is an infirmity, sickness or a sickly person
*recover Gk #366 ananepho (an-an-ay-fo) it means to renovate, reform or renew
The benefit of this ministry is only applicable to people who BELIEVE in Christ and His Gospel and are BAPTIZED into Christian Discipleship. It is for those who reverently hear, understand and submit to the healing power of Jesus Christ, AS born-again believers.
Such grace is not purposed for those who reject Christ, which He likens to spiritual dogs and swine. [Pro 8:17, 35, 36; Mt 7:6; St Jn 3:19, 20, 36; Rev 22:14, 15]
Jesus Christ is With His Disciples
In [Mk 16:19, 20] Apostle Mark shares a simple but powerful lesson. It is that Jesus Christ is present with His true disciples, who are devoted to effective proclamation of His Words. He avails Himself in many ways to prove His allegiance to them. [Pro 8:17-21, 35, 36] Therefore, they are admonished to confidently go forth in their allotted capacities and serve the communities they are divinely appointed to by the Holy Ghost. [Mt 28:18-20]
