Pt 2 – The Parable of the Sower
By Lawrence DeMetrius
In [Mk 4:1-25] Christ uses The Parable of the Sower to illustrate that mere knowledge of divine insight is not enough to invoke its benefits. One must also obtain proper understanding thereof and govern themselves to with faith filled obedience. In the parable, Christ expounds upon SIX KEY POINTS one must know when administering His Gospel.
1. There is the SOWER who SOWETH the SEED or WORD.
*sower/soweth/sown Gk #4687 speiro (spi-ro) it means to scatter and receive seed
*word Gk #3056 logos (log-os) it is …
• something said including the thought
• a topic or subject of discourse
• reasoning of the mental faculty
• a motive or computation which is the making sense of a thing
• Divine Expression such as Christ the Word
2. Lucifer has authority and will TAKE AWAY the SEED or divine Word SOWN into HEARTS that receive it on the WAY SIDE. [Jn 10:10; II Cor 4:3; 10:4, 5] While true messengers of Christ are delegated to SOW or impart divine word, it is the responsibility of each recipient to pursuit deeper understanding thereof as dedicated disciples of Jesus Christ. [Mt 11:28-30; Jam 1:3-8, 22-25]
*way Gk #3598 hodos (hod-os) it is a road, route, act and distance of a progress, and is figurative of a mode or means
*side Gk #3844 para (par-ah) it means near, beside, to the proximity of, at or in the vicinity of
*take away Gk #142 airo (ah-ee-ro) it is to…
• lift, take up or away and raise the voice
• keep the mind in suspense or expiate with sin
• sail away without an anchor
• make to doubt, put away and remove
3. There are those with STONY HEARTS who GLADLY HEAR and RECEIVE divine WORDS but fail to let them take ROOT within. Although they have positive perspective about divine words, their loose commitment thereto causes them to be easily OFFENDED and removed therefrom in times of PERSECUTION. THE LORD will exchange a STONY HEART upon recognizing one’s effort to pursuit understanding of HIS Word above all else in their life. [Eze 11:19-21; 36:25-27; II Tim 2:24-26]
*stony Gk #4075 petrodes (pet-ro-dace) it means rocky or rock-like
*heard Gk #191 akouo (ak-oo-o) it means to hear
*receive (1) Gk #2983 lambano (lam-ban-o) it means to take and get hold of

• a part of the body of a plant that typically develops from the radicle of the plant and grows downward into the soil to anchor the plant so that it might absorb nutriment and moisture

• lure into performing an act or make an illegal or compromising statement
• cause to stumble and draw into contradiction or damaging admission
• entice to sin, apostasy and displeasure
• irritate, annoy or anger
• violate or transgress a criminal, religious or moral law
4. There are those who RECEIVE divine WORD but prioritize CARES of the WORLD above securing proper understanding thereof. All such things are idols that are likened to THORNS that make divine words ineffective within one’s HEART.
*thorns Gk #173 akantha (ak-an-thah) it is…
• a sharp excrescence on a plant, especially a sharp-pointed aborted branch

THE DIVINE GODHEAD does not demonize temporal WEALTH nor the desire to have it. In fact, WEALTH has always been a defense, especially for the righteous and a means of improving the quality of one’s mortal life. However, like any other thing, it becomes an object of OFFENCE to Yahweh when it becomes an object of idolatry. [Exo 20:3; Eccl 12:13; Mt 6:24; I Jn 2:15-17] These THORNS CHOKE divine words, making them UNFRUITFUL in the lives of those who do not properly value them.
*choke Gk #4846 sumpnigo (soom-pnee-go) it means to completely strangle, drown and crowd
5. There are HEARTS that are considered GOOD ground in Yahweh’s perspective because they RECEIVE HIS WORD, permit IT to TAKE ROOT within, obtain proper understand thereof and govern themselves accordingly with faith filled obedience. As a result, they are able to abundantly produce spiritual FRUIT that is pleasing unto THE LORD. [Jn 15:1-9; I Pet 2:5]
*good Gk #2570 kalos (kal-oce) (adj.) it means beautiful, valuable and virtuous for appearance or use

o acknowledge or confess
• delight in which is to give great pleasure, satisfaction and enjoyment to
6. In [Mk 4:21-25] Christ advises that effective HEARING increases divine insight, while ineffective HEARING causes decrease and loss of divine insight. Thus, the divine WORD can only benefit those who genuinely HEAR, RECEIVE and prioritize IT above all in their lives.
*hear Gk #191 akouo (ak-oo-o) it means to…
• perceive and learn by the ear or by being told
• be informed of, listen, give and pay attention to
• be among the audience at or of something
• give a formal, official or judicial hearing to
• officially consider as a judge, sovereign, teacher or assembly
• take or listen to the evidence or testimony of
• listen to with favor, assent and compliance
If THE LORD HIMSELF magnifies HIS Word above HIS OWN NAME, it is certain that mortals are to do so above all in their lives. [Ps 138:2]
