Letter of Apostle Luke – The Gospel
An Intimate Review
Pt 1
By Lawrence DeMetrius

The Reason for Apostle Luke’s Letters to Theopholis

In [Lk 1:1-4] Apostle Luke wrote detailed letters to a Christian companion named Theopholis. He did so to assure that the information about the Person and purpose of Jesus Christ was true and accurate. Apostle Luke wanted Theopholis to be clear that he was a first-hand witness of Christ, His works and teachings.

The Miraculous Births of Jesus Christ and John the Baptist

In [Lk 1:5-80; 2] Apostle Luke writes about the announcement of the births of Christ and John the Baptist made the angel Gabriel. John the Baptist was the son of Priest Zacharias and Elisabeth the daughter of Aaron. His birth was miraculous in that his parents were well in age and his mother Elisabeth was barren. Another special note about John is that he was filled with the Holy Ghost in his mother’s womb, and that he was endowed with the anointing of Prophet Elijah. This is why Christ likened him to Elijah. The birth of Jesus Christ was miraculous as it did not involve the seed of a mortal man as indicated per ancient prophecy. [Isa 7:14-16; 9:6, 7; Gal 4:4, 5] Christ is recognized as the Son of THE HIGHEST and Horn of Salvation, Whose purpose was to gather mortals back into the Way of Peace. [Lk 1:32, 69, 79] Because Priest Zacharias failed to immediately believe Gabriel about John’s birth, he became dumb of speaking. [Lk 1:20-22, 37, 63-65] His experience gives credence to the idea that an Elect can bring upon themselves unnecessary consequence when they fail to believe the word of THE LORD, which is the sin that doth so easily beset an Elect. [Heb 12:1] His response at the hearing of this announcement should have been as Mary’s, the mother of Christ which was, “Be it unto me according to Yahweh’s word.” [Lk 1:38] This faith filled response is wise indeed because Yahweh has set in place divine decree that all things work together for good to those who love HIM and are the called according to HIS purpose. [Rm 8:28] There is an appointed season of extraordinary events for all born-again believers. They make their seasons of preparation less taxing when they readily believe and rejoice over the Word of THE LORD concerning their lives.
Apostle Luke writes about factual events, which are confirmed by Roman rulers and reliable sources of secular history. He writes that Caesar Augustus and Cyrenius governed Syria at the time of John’s conception and of the initial decree of universal taxation. The reason Joseph went back to Bethlehem was to account in this census. It was custom for people to return to their original hometowns to participate in the census. Apostle Luke clarified that Joseph, his espoused wife Mary and her cousin Elisabeth were all descendants of King David. Thus, per His mortal bloodline Jesus Christ was indeed a direct decedent of King David. It just so happened that Mary was about to give birth to Him during this census. This gives credence to the idea that shifts in major social activity are synched with divine purpose. [Lk 2:1-7] {See Thomson Chain Study Bible #611} In this passage Apostle Luke identifies Christ as the Lord and Savior Who brings great joy to His people [Lk 2:10], is the consolation and glory of Israel [Lk 2:25, 32], is the Christ of Yahweh and method of salvation [Lk 2:26, 30] and the Light of all Gentiles [Lk 2:32; St Jn 1:9]. This passage gives credence to the idea of women in ministry and that Christ highly favors women who stand in and for righteousness. Such women noted are Mary His mother and her cousin Elisabeth, the mother of John the Baptist and Prophetess Anna who had much to do with Christ’s official public presentation. [Lk 2:36-40] The Christ Child was presented as holy unto Yahweh as He was the first-born male child of Joseph’s household to open the womb. This was an ancient Hebrew law and custom. [Exo 13:2, 12; 34:19] His name ‘Jesus’ or ‘Yeshua’ in Hebrew, was designated before His miraculous conception. He was appointed the epithet of ‘Christ’ because He alone is the Christ and prophesied Messiah of Yahweh. [Lk 2:26] As a child, Jesus Christ remained subject to his mortal parents thus fulfilling His obligation as a child according to Mosaic Law. [Exo 20:12] He was also teachable as He delighted in engaging with Doctorates of the Hebrew Scriptures. [Lk 2:46] He was favored of Yahweh and people but not as Yahweh HIMSELF. At the age of 12 He embraced His divine divinity and matured therein, increasing in favor with Yahweh and mortals. In all His greatness, Christ was much more human than many acknowledge Him to have been. [Lk 2:49, 52] Apostle Luke notes dialogue that occurred between angelic and mortal beings. This gives credence to the idea that angelic beings due at times manifest themselves to mortals be they good or evil.

The Ministry of John the Baptist

In [Lk 3:1, 2] Apostle Luke notes the ministry of John the Baptist. He emphasized right doing and that the wrath of Yahweh is reserved for all who do not practice it. In his time, Roman rulers governed the majority of the known world. [Lk 2:1-3] In [Lk 3:3-14; 6:27-49] Apostle Luke notes that 15 years into the reign of Emperor Tiberius Caesar, Yahweh sent John the Baptist into Jordon to preach The Baptism of Repentance for The Remission of Sins. As did Prophet Ezekiel, John declared that all are liable for their own actions. Thus, the idea of generational curses was again debunked. [Exo 34:7; Deut 5:9; 24:16; Eze 18:4,19-23;31, 32] This was the pre-cursor to the message Christ would later bring. The message of John the Baptist was purposed to prepare the Way for the message and mission of Jesus Christ. John displayed such power and grace that many thought he was Christ or an incarnation of Prophet Elijah. However, he clarified that he was not the Christ but the prophesied witness of Christ the Light, Who would impart the Holy Ghost and Fire to justified believers. [Lk 3:15-18] John was such a notable figure that Christ regarded him as the greatest man born of women. [Lk 7:28] During one of John’s Baptismal services, Yahweh revealed to John that Jesus was HIS Son, Christ and Messiah. [Lk 3:22] Shortly afterwards, John was released from mortality by an of injustice act.

Luke 4:1-15
The Wilderness Experience

In [Lk 4:1-15] Christ left Jordon where John the Baptist was baptizing. Being FULL of the Holy Ghost, He entered into a WILDERNESS where He was TEMPTED of the DEVIL for forty days. During this time, He abstained from food and was afterward hungry. Per Apostle John’s report, Yahweh imparted the Holy Ghost unto Christ without measure. [St Jn 3:34] If Jesus Christ was the Holy Ghost, why then would He need to be FULL of what He already was? Although He was indeed Divine Divinity, He was also very much so mortal. In His mortality, the immeasurable FILLING of the Holy Ghost was necessary to fulfill His mission as the Christ. This Power is also necessary in order for His disciples to continue His work earth effectively. [Acts 1:8] Whatever the required measure, Yahweh is sure to impart it unto each of HIS sons as HE did Jesus Christ in His mortality. [I Cor 10:13; II Cor 12:9, 10; I Jn 4:4-6; 3:4-10; Rm 8:5-16; St Jn 3:19-21, 36] Christ was going to war with the maximum power of evil, which required the maximum measure of divine power. This gives credence to the idea that Yahweh will impart whatever measure of divine power required to effectively combat satanic forces.

* full Gk# 4134 pleres (play-race) it means to be replete, covered and complete

*wilderness Gk #2048 eremos (er-ay-mos) it means lonesome and waste

The WILDERNESS is a space where the sons of GOD must go for preparation for their appointed missions. If Christ had to enter this space, surely His brethren will have to do so per divine intervention. [Jm 1:2-4; I Pet 5:10]

*tempted Gk #3985 peirazo (pe-rad-zo) it means to test, endeavor, scrutinize, entice or discipline

*devil Gk #1228 diablos (dee-ab-ol-os) it is a traducer, which is one who speaks maliciously of and falsely accuses another, especially Lucifer

Christ warns all that Lucifer is a liar and the father or creator of lies. [Jn 8:44]
This is why one should never believe anything he says, especially that which concerns oneself. Lucifer is also the master of perverting truth, namely divine truth. [Rev 12:4] Truth as expressed per the Gospel of Jesus Christ exposes and expels his lies and influence over and in the mortal mind. [Jn 8:31, 32, 36] In this passage, Apostle Luke expresses the power of speech. Spoken words, especially with high levels of persuasive energy, can influence people to respond or react in certain ways. Concepts, be they good or evil, are fashioned in the mind primarily with spoken words. Thus, born-again believers are admonished to master their tongue. [Jam 1:26; Mk 16:17; Mt 5:37; 12:36] While one is not to avoid all communication, they are to wisely monitor what they communicate. They are also to monitor what others communicate to them. [Eph 4:27; Heb 13:16; I Tim 6:18; I Cor 2:11; Pro 29:24, 25; Jn 8:44; II Jn vs 7-11; Eph 4:29; Col 3:8; Heb 12:1; II Cor 6:14-18] In spirit, born-again believers are vessels and personifications of Yahweh’s Word as was Christ. [St Jn 1:12, 13; 6:37-40, 44, 45] They are advised to continue in words inspired by the Holy Ghost through THE LORD’S prophets and scribes from Enoch to Christ and His Original Apostles. [Jos 1:8; Ps 1:2; II Tim 2:15; Jn 12:45-50] Yahweh has always purified the tongues of HIS oracles, enabling them to effectively communicate on HIS behalf. [Isa 6:5-8; 50:4; Pro 18:21; 26:20-28] In fact, this is the power and purpose of The Ministry of Divine Iconoclasm. [Mt 5:14-16; 19; 28:18-20] In [Lk 4:3] Apostle Luke notes that Christ was hungry after 40 days of fasting in His Wilderness Experience. Thus, Lucifer used the occasion to tempt Christ with food. As he did with Eve, he attempted to draw obedience from Christ by suggesting a seemingly good thing to do, which was to make stones into bread. In his subtle attempt, Lucifer also tried to induce self-doubt concerning Christ’s familial relationship with Yahweh by speaking, “If thou be the Son of God, make these stones bread.” However, Christ resisted Lucifer’s temptation by remaining submitted to Yahweh in spite of His hunger. All sons of GOD do well in following His example. [Jam 4:7] They also do well to rightly acknowledge that all agents of evil, both immortal and mortal, are owned by THE LORD and divinely set to tempt them. Blessedly, their authority to do so is limited. [Pro 16:4; Isa 54:16; Isa 4:11; I Cor 10:13; Rm 9:15-23] Having this in mind, they are to consider Apostle Luke’s report regarding Lucifer’s authority and how he uses his influence to seduce mortals into subjection by resisting Yahweh.

1. Lucifer can deceptively communicate divine words as he did in Eden. [Gen 3:1-6; Lk 4:3, 6, 7, 9-11]

2. Lucifer challenges one’s self-perception of being a genuine son of GOD. [Lk 4:3, 9]

3. Lucifer can proposition one with temporal wealth and status in exchange for worship. [Lk 4:5-7] This practice is called DAIO, which is the distribution of temporal riches by demonic activity in exchange for satanic worship. It has been practiced by satanic forces from most ancient of times. [Eze 28; Isa 14:12-20; Lk 10:10; Rev 12:4; Jude vs 6] This is one reason why the Elect of GOD must guard their hearts against avarice, which is excessive desire for monetary gain. [Mt 6:24; I Tim 6:4-10; I Jn 2:15-17]

Born-again believers can always overcome temptation by choosing to remain submitted to Yahweh and resist the devil as did Jesus Christ. [Lk 4:4, 8, 12; St Jn 3:19, 20; Rm 8:5-16; Jm 1:13-15; Mt 26:41]

The Public Ministry of Jesus Christ Announced

In [Lk 4:16-32; Isa 61:1, 2] Apostle Luke notes that it in the early stages of spiritual growth, one has yet to discover their full potential as a son of GOD. However, when they have reached a level of maturity where they clearly do, then are they ready to effectively combat satanic powers in The Ministry of Divine Iconoclasm. Biblical history discloses that Lucifer has always sought to destroy the sons of GOD before they realize their potential. Thus, he often seeks to kill them before they are born or while in their infancy. His goal is to destroy them before they can effectively war against his forces. [Mt 11:12; II Cor 4:3-7; 10:4, 5; Heb 5:14] As was Christ, so are all sons of GOD poised to fulfill their missions. Vice versa, satanic powers are just as poised to keep them from doing so with defamation, persecution and if possible, death. Christ boldly decreed Himself to be the Person spoken of by Prophet Isaiah. He referred to the ancient prophets when regarding the rejection He would receive of His Own countrymen. By the same He also noted how Gentile nations would become greatly favored because of their acceptance of Him as the true Christ. Born-again believers must know that the moment they fully recognize, decree and set their hearts to bruise the head of satanic forces, satanic forces will in turn rise to bruise their heels. Yahweh set this enmity between HIS children and Lucifer’s children in Eden. [Gen 3:15; Lk 10:19; I Jn 3:7-10] But, because Christ has already overcome Lucifer and his forces, all sons of GOD are victorious over them through His strength. [Jn 15:1-5; 16:33; II Cor 12:9] Per Prophet Isaiah, the Holy Ghost rested upon Christ because He was anointed of Yahweh to serve mortals in the following ways. [Lk 4:18, 19; Isa 61:1-3]
