Letter of Apostle Matthew – The Gospel
An Intimate Review
Pt 20
By Lawrence DeMetrius

Matthew 17:1-9
Yahweh Reveals Jesus Christ
<See Mt 16:13-20 Pt 1>

In this passage, Apostle Matthew writes of Yahweh revealing Who Jesus Christ is to Apostles Peter with John and James the sons of Zebedee. Such revelation is necessary to destroy any doubt of Christ being the prophesied Messiah. It is also necessary in order to effectively administer His Testimony to others.

Matthew 17:10-13
Transfer of Anointing

Information provisioned in this passage gives credence to the idea that divine prophetic anointing is transferrable. Apostle Matthew notes in this passage the transfer of Elijah’s anointing to John the Baptist. So strong was Elijah’s anointing upon John the Baptist that he was likened to Elijah returning from the past.

Matthew 18:1-6, 10-14
Jesus Loves the Little Children
<See Mt 19:13-15>

Jesus Christ teaches that the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven are those who HUMBLE themselves as little children. In fact, no one can enter Yahweh’s kingdom unless they first be CONVERTED and become as little children. Christ also teaches that one who receives little children in His Name actually receive Him. However, one who OFFENDS little children who believe in Christ are better off having a millstone hanged about their neck and thrown into the deepest sea.

Matthew 18:7-9
Opposers of Christ
<See Mt 18:1-6; 10:32, 33; Heb 12:1; II Cor 6:14-18; II Jn vs 7-11>

In this passage, Christ refers to relinquishing intimate relationships that discourage one’s faith in Him. [Heb 12:1] There are many who do not embrace Christ or His Testimony. They are indeed children of Lucifer. [I Jn 3:8-10] Apostle Matthew also notes the reverence that was commonly expressed toward those who hold the office of priest and prophet of Yahweh.
Due to His character and speech, which was accompanied by power and demonstration of the Holy Ghost, many recognized Christ as a true teacher of GOD. [Jn 3:34; 14:10, 11; Acts 4:30; I Cor 2:4, 5] Nonetheless, there were unbelieving Pharisees, Sadducees, Scribes and Elders of Israel who maintained that He was a religious imposter and discredited Him and His supporters.

Matthew 18:15-20
The Purpose and Process of Excommunication

Christ indicates when it becomes necessary to ex-communicate mortal devils from Christian assemblies. [Mt 18:15] The purpose for doing this is to help alleviate their malignant activity of spreading false concepts therein. Christ reiterates that His brethren are to remain ready, willing and able to forgive. [Mt 6:12, 14, 15; Rm 3:24; I Jn 1:8, 10] They are also to practice effective communication as it helps to maintain unity and favorable disposition with one another. The Elect are never to be hypocritical about how they feel, especially when they believe they have been wronged by a Christian brother. Thus, it is each brother’s responsibility to verbally disclose when they believe a Christian brother has committed a fault against them. Even if it is a misunderstanding, such communication will dismiss demonically invoked confusion, purposed to destroy the bond of brotherly love. [Eph 4:24; Heb 13:16; Mt 7:1, 15-20; Jn 7:24] While mature Christians practice this well, demonic forces often use such devices among immature Christians. [Pro 6:16-19; Jn 10:10; Heb 5:14]

*brother Gk #80 adelphos (ad-el-fos) it a brother near or remote [St Jn 1:12, 13; Rom 8:16]

*fault Gk #1651 elegcho (el-eng-kho) it means to confute or admonish

• confute is to…
o disapprove and prove to be false, invalid or defective
o prove one wrong by argument or proof

• admonish is to…
o caution, advise or counsel against something
o reprove or scold in a mild and good-willed manner
o remind or urge to a duty

*hear Gk #191 akouo (ak-oo-o) it means to hear in various senses, give in the audience of, come to the ears and understand

*gained Gk #2770 kerdaino (ker-dah-ee-no) it is to gain or win

In [Mt 18:16] Jesus Christ admonishes the witness of two when hearing the matter of an alleged OFFENSE when necessary. It helps to establish whether or not a case is demonically invoked and ex-communication is warranted. Christ will never cast a genuine son of GOD from His Church. [Jn 6:37] However, devils who subtly enter holy assemblies by the sleight of Lucifer to sow discord, are to be rightly dealt with. [Pro 6:16-19] In [Mt 18:17-20] if one is found guilty of a trespass refuses just counsel of two or three witnesses, the matter is to go before the entire Assembly. If the trespassing party refuses to hear the counsel of the Assembly, then are they to be deemed an intruder and opposer of Jesus Christ. Genuine brethren of Christ have respect unto the regulation of confession, repentance and forgiveness. However, genuine children of Lucifer do not. Therefore, marking and ex-communicating them as such is warranted and supported in the courts of heaven. In [Mt 18:21-35] Christ reiterates the importance of forgiveness amongst Christian brethren per His response to Apostle Peter’s inquiry,

Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, until seven times; but, Until seventy times seven.
[Mt 18:21, 22]

Children of Lucifer neither practice or expect forgiveness from those they hurt. By their willful expression of disobedience, they expose themselves as children of Belial. [I Jn 3:8-10] Mortals who are proven to be irresolute devils should be marked as such and ex-communicated from Christian fellowship when warranted.
