Letters of Apostle John – The Gospel
An Intimate Review
Pt 4
By Lawrence DeMetrius
Jesus Christ the Bread of Life: Eat My Flesh, Drink My Blood and Live Forever
In [Jn 6:22-27, 31-71] Apostle John notes a statement that to the spiritually unregenerate suggests cannibalism. However, what Jesus Christ was addressing per this statement is one’s receptiveness to His teaching. [Jn 6:63, 68; 5:24, 25] He knew that only those who are predestined to worship Yahweh forever and ever would be able to receive this statement. [Jn 6:37-46] Apostle John notes that a great number of those who followed Christ denounced Him after hearing this saying. [Jn 6:47-71] Apostle John also noted these apostates in letters he wrote later in his ministry. [I Jn 2:18, 19] Christ only spoke what His FATHER told Him to speak. This gives credence to the idea that by such a statement, Yahweh, as the HUSBANDMAN of HIS vineyard, was pruning dead branches from HIS Vine, Jesus Christ. [Jn 15:1-5] For a brief moment, there remained one dead branch to be pruned for the sake of divine prophecy, which was Judas Iscariot. [Jn 6:70, 71] Christ clearly stated that real and perpetual life is only possible by believing, receiving, and submitting to His Lordship and doctrine. In fact, it was for this purpose that Yahweh SEALED Him. [Jn 6:27]
*sealed Gk #4972 sphragizo (sfrag-id-zo) it means to…
1. stamp with a signet or private mark for security or preservation
2. keep secret and attest [Dan 12:10]
The Work of GOD
In [Jn 6:28-30] Christ explained that Yahweh desires of all mortals to believe on Him Whom HE has sent. Although this seems like a thing to do, very few desire and are empowered to do so. This is why it is vital for teachers of THE LORD to direct their audience to the information HE already provisioned through HIS ancient prophets and scribes, from Enoch to Jesus Christ and His Original Apostles. Again, this pattern of teaching is prevalent in all of Yahweh’s teachers, from the most ancient of times to this day.
*work/works Gk #2041 ergon (er-gon) it is an act and toil as an effort or occupation
Per this passage, the WORK that Yahweh desires all mortals to do is to honor Christ the way HE wants them to. [Heb 2:5-11] This WORK can only be accomplished by one who is given the mind of repentance from Yahweh. [II Tim 2:26; Heb 12:2; Gal 2:16, 20] Those who genuinely receive this mind are the Elect few who were predestined to do so from the foundation of the world. [Isa 57:13; Jn 6:37-40, 44, 45, 65; 10; Rm 8:28-30] Nothing will separate them from HIS love, as HE is both their CREATOR and ABBA, FATHER. [Rm 8:14-18, 31-39]
The Enemy in Your House
In [Jn 7:1-13] the biological brothers of Jesus of Nazareth did not believe that He was the prophesied Christ. They urged Him to take His cause into a place where it was not appropriate for Him to be at the time as there were people there who sought to kill Him. Thus, when Christ taught that one’s own relatives can be their enemy, He was speaking from experience. [Mt 10:36] There are times when disciples of Christ must beware where they go because there are places where they can encounter opposers of Christ, who may require their life due to their allegiance to Christ. This gives credence to the idea of remaining prayerfully sensitive to the leading of the Holy Ghost.
Power without Credentials
In [Jn 7:15] Apostle John writes of challenges Christ had because He did not hold regulatory credentials to teach or be respected to teach as He did. However, the explanation He gave in response to such opposition, was that His doctrine was not His Own. He also reiterated that He was not seeking glory for Himself but to direct glory to Yahweh WHO sent Him to teach. In so doing, He was not required to have or obtain the certifications Master teachers of His day were expected to have. However, because of His manner of teaching, and the many miracles He publicly performed, many people embraced Him as the prophesied Messiah.
Who Can Throw Stones?
In [Jn 8:1-11] Apostle John writes of the experience of a woman caught in the act of adultery. Her encounter with Christ expressed the universal problem of sin, and the divine mercy offered to all who are willing to be forgiven and delivered from the power of sin. [I Jn 1:8-10; 2:1, 2; Rm 3:23-26; 4:7; 6; 7:25; 8:7; II Cor 12:9; Rev 3:7-10]
Jesus Christ the Light of the World
In [Jn 8:12, 31-36], Jesus Christ gives a promise to those who FOLLOW Him. The promise is that that they will not WALK in spiritual DARKNESS, as long as He remains their guiding LIGHT. Apostle John writes that Yahweh sent Christ into the world to be LIGHT and LIFE every person born into the world. [St Jn 1:4, 5, 9] Although all souls are beckoned of Christ to COME to Him for enlightenment, only a few out of each generation will answer His invite. [Mt 11:28-30] Christ makes it clear that His promise to keep one from WALKING in spiritual DARKNESS does not apply to those who choose not to FOLLOW Him.

In [Jn 8:37] Jesus Christ explained to unbelieving Hebrews that although they were of the lineage of Abraham, they possessed a murderous heart toward Him. This was so because there was no PLACE in their hearts for His WORD. This is true for all nonbelievers, regardless of their nationality.
*place Gk #5562 chorea (kho-reh-o) it means to…
1. be in or give space
2. pass, enter, admit, or hold
In [Jn 8:37, 41, 43; 1:5; 10:10a, 26; Rm 8:7] Christ teaches that the carnal and unbelieving mind lacks ability to UNDERSTAND divine insight. Captives and children of Lucifer cannot UNDERSTAND the WORD of Christ because they lack ability to HEAR Him. Knowledge comes before UNDERSTANDING, which is then followed by WISDOM.

3. progenitor or man who exercises paternal care over other persons
4. paternal protector or provider
5. person who has originated or established something
In [Jn 8:38-49] Christ explains that He as Yahweh’s Word incarnate, works to bring life to dead souls, while Lucifer works to keep them dead. Both do according to their innate nature. The souls under their influence can only produce according to the FATHER who spiritually sired them. [Jn 10:10; 3:19-21, 36; Mt 6:24; Rm 6:16; Jm 4:7; Pro 8:35, 36]
The Blind to See
In [Jn 9] Apostle John writes of a man who was born blind but received miraculous healing from Christ. This man’s entire life experience was to fulfill divine purpose. Christ explained to His disciples that this man’s experience was to show forth the greatness of GOD. [I Chro 16:9] It was also purposed to express Christ’s authority to provide divine insight to those who are spiritually BLIND, but are predestined to receive such insight per will of THE LORD. Given these divine purposes, it is obviously that this beneficiary was a TEKNON of GOD, for he received Christ as his personal Savior. This was also the case Lazarus noted at [Jn 11:4]
The Parable of the Shepherd, the Sheep, and the Thief
In [Jn 10:1-7, 16, 27] Christ continues His dialogue with unbelieving Hebrews and uses a parable to explain Himself as the Shepherd of Yahweh’s flock. In it, He clearly denotes that thieves and robber attempt to enter this sheepfold, by any other WAY but its DOOR, which is Christ Himself. [Jn 10:7, 9, 11]. Being genuine thieves and robbers, they only come to the fold to attempt murder, theft and destruction. [Jn 10:8, 10, 11, 15, 17, 18, 28] The boldest and most subtle of all predators are the wolves that come in sheep’s clothing, with purpose to scatter them. [Jn 10:12, 13; Mt 7:15-21] However, the sheep of Yahweh’s flock are innately resistant to all these strangers, and are unreceptive to their voices. [Jn 10:14] Yahweh has secured them by giving them ears that are only receptive to the tone of their appointed Shepherd, Jesus Christ and the PORTERS who assist Him.
