An Intimate Review
Pt 6
By Lawrence DeMetrius
Loving Jesus Christ is Obeying Him
In [Jn 14:15; 15:14] the idea of SAYING one loves another is nice. But LOVE expressed through action is even better. This principle originates from Yahweh. [St Jn 3:16; I Jn 4:8-21] In this passage Christ, reiterates that genuine LOVE for Him and Yahweh is best expressed with faith filled obedience to divine directives. He admonished those who profess to LOVE Him by saying,
If you LOVE Me, keep My commandments.
[Jn 14:15]

Jesus Christ the True Vine
In [Jn 15:1] Jesus Christ teaches that He is the TRUE VINE and Yahweh is the HUSBANDMAN. Christ decrees Himself as such because there would come liars professing the same glory. [Mt 7:15-21; 24:5, 11, 24; II Cor 11:3, 4, 13-15] As the HUSBANDMAN of HIS vineyard, Yahweh only cultivates that which produces FRUIT that pleases HIM. The definition of BRANCH gives credence to the idea of LIMBS or SHOOTS that are already PURGED from a VINE. Thus, PURGED BRANCHES are likened to APOSTATES, which Apostle John makes note of. [I Jn 2:18; Jn 6:60-69] There is something about PURGED BRANCHES that made them too weak to BEAR FRUIT of TRUTH. If they are not strengthened by that which nurtures TRUTH they eventually FALL OFF. [St Jn 3:19; Rev 3:8-10] In [Jn 15:4, 5-11; 8:31, 32; Ps 1:3; II Jn vs 7-11] Christ admonishes the FRUITFUL BRANCHES to continue ABIDING in Him and let Him continue to ABIDE in them. The Commandment of Love
In [Jn 15:12, 17; 13:34, 35] Christ gives His brethren the ultimate commandment to LOVE one another as He LOVES them. He explains that there is no greater expression of LOVE than one laying down their own life for a friend. This He Himself did for FRIEND and FOE. While it may not be necessary to literally be killed to save one’s friend, Christ is clear about His expectation of His disciples genuinely LOVING one another at all times as He does.
