Letters of Apostle John – I, II & III John
An Intimate Review
Pt 4
By Lawrence DeMetrius
In [I Jn 5:1] Apostle John reiterates what Christ already said about why some do not BELIEVE in Him. It is because they are not of Yahweh’s flock. Only the sheep of THE LORD’S flock have ears to hear and rightly respond to the voice of Jesus Christ. Only they can receive of Yahweh the capacity to BELIEVE in Christ as the scriptures have said. This is why it is pointless to debate or argue the Testimony of Jesus Christ with non-believers. [II Tim 2:24-26; Jn 1:12-13; 5:24, 39, 45, 46; 6:37-40, 44, 45, 65; 6:63; 7:16-18, 37-39; 8:12, 23, 24, 31, 32, 36, 41-47; 10:4, 5, 14, 25-27; Rm 8:28-30; Gal 2:15; Heb 12:1, 2]

In [I Jn 5:4, 5] Apostle John notes that born-again believers have OVERCOME the world. He writes that the VICTORY by which they OVERCOME the world is FAITH in and of Jesus Christ. [Gal 2:16, 20; II Tim 2:26]

In [I Jn 5:10-13] Apostle John writes that Yahweh TESTIFIED of Christ in ancient times through HIS prophets, scribes and John the Baptist. [St Jn 1:28-34] HE TESTIFIED of Him on The Mountain of Transfiguration. [Mt 17:1-14] THE LORD consistently WITNESSED of Christ by the works HE did through Him, His Original Apostles and still today through genuine Christians. [Jn 14:11, 12]
Yahweh assures every born-again believer that they have already obtained eternal life in Christ. HE also assures that everyone who does not BELIEVE or ABIDE in Christ does not. [Isa 1:18-20; Jn 3:16-19, 36; Rm 8:1]

*will Gk #2307 thelema (thel-ay-mah) it is inclination, choice, purpose, decree, determination and thing determined
Intercession on Behalf of Sinners
In [I Jn 5:16] Apostle John admonishes born-again believers to ask THE LORD to grant life to Christian brothers, who have committed a sin that is not unto death. He reiterates that while all unrighteousness is sin, all sins of living mortals can be forgiven except for one, which is BLASPHEMY of the Holy Ghost. Apostle John said that brothers of Christ are not to request life for one who is guilty of committing THE UNPARDONABLE SIN, as it is unto death. [Isa 63:10; Mt 12:31; Mk 3:28, 29]

In [I Jn 5:16-18] Apostle John notes that the primary effort of true Christian teachers, is to benefit the wellbeing of Christians. [Eph 4:1-13] He also writes that while all SIN comes with consequence, there is SIN that is not deserving of the true DEATH, which is eternal banishment from the delightful presence of Yahweh. Those who are genuinely BORN again of GOD, are no longer enslaved to the power of SIN. They are empowered through the strength of Christ to KEEP themselves and are not TOUCHED by the one who is wicked.

In [I Jn 5:18, 19] Apostle John reiterates that Yahweh’s born-again children are no longer subject to the power of sin. However, those who have yet to become born-again remain slaves to SIN, and are therefore deemed children of Lucifer. Although SONS of GOD fall short of godly character at times, they do not practice SIN as do the sons of Lucifer. [Rm 3:23; I Jn 1:8-10; Ps 66:18; Jn 4:23, 24; II Cor 12:9; Jam 1:13-15; Rev 3:8] In [I Jn 5:20, 21; Lk 24:44-49; II Tim 2:24-26; I Cor 8:6] Apostle John clarifies that eternal life is knowing Jesus the Christ and Yahweh the TRUE GOD. This divine insight empowers born-again believers to abstain from idolatry.
Look To Thyself
In [II Jn vs 7, 9] Apostle John explains that the SONS of GOD are to remain faithful to the doctrine of Christ. They are to LOOK to themselves in regard to the information they receive of THE LORD through Christ and His Original Apostles. In so doing, they will never lose the benefits thereof.
*look Gk #991 blepo (blep-o) it means to look at
In [II Jn vs 10, 11] Apostle John warns true believers to check the ideas they mentally entertain. Here, he is specifically referring to those published by ANTI-CHRISTS. [St Jn 10:10; I Jn 2:18-29; 4:6-9] They are to mark and avoid these imposters at all costs. These LIARS are not to be welcomed into their physical or mental HOUSE, nor are they to bid them GOD-SPEED. By doing so, they will be deemed partakers of their evil deed of spreading false doctrines. Apostle Paul teaches that the Elect are also to abstain from all appearance of evil, and to have no intimate relationships with the wicked. [I Thes 5:22; Eph 4:27; II Cor 6:14-18; Heb 12:1]

In [III Jn] Apostle John writes that the overall prosperity of the Elect, is in direct correlation to their spiritual well-being. It also correlates with their provision of hospitality and financial support to genuine Christian ministry. Christians must beware of worldly ambitions that hinder their duty to Christian ministry. Their reputation as SONS of GOD and disciples of Christ is founded in THE LORD. It is also established in their expression of love toward one another, godly character and involvement in Christian ministry. [Isa 54:17]
