Letter of Apostle Paul – Romans
An Intimate Review
Pt 5
By Lawrence DeMetrius

Everyone Is Guilty

In [Rm 2:1-6] Apostle Paul emphasizes that no one is qualified to JUDGE another, which is a principle of Jesus Christ. [Mt 7:1-5] In this passage, Apostle Paul explains why people are not to cast JUDGMENT on one another. As he was called to serve both Hebrew and Gentile nations, he needed to deal with discrimination and ill judgment. He also reiterates the idea of one being guilty of violating all divine laws when they violate just one of them. The JUDGMENTAL mindset should be mortified within the regenerate mind, which is only to be set at love and life for self and other souls. Apostle Paul writes,

Thou are INEXUSABLE, oh man, WHOSOEVER thou art that JUDGEST: for wherein thou JUDGEST another, thou CONDEMNEST THYSELF; for thou that JUDGEST doest the same things.
[Rm 2:1]

*inexcusable Gk #379 anapologetos (an-ap-ol-og-ay-tos) it means indefensible and without excuse

*judgest Gk #2919 krino (kree-no) it means to distinguish, decide mentally or judicially and to try, condemn or punish

*condemnest Gk #2632 katakrino (kat-ak-ree-no) it means to judge against and sentence

In [Rm 2:4b] Apostle Paul notes a profound revelation about THE LORD’S GOODNESS. It is that it leads one to REPENTANCE and motivates captives of darkness to liberate themselves from the power thereof. [Rm 6:23; Jam 1:13-15; 4:7-10; I Jn 1:8-10; 3:8-10; 5:16-18] THE LORD said through Prophet Ezekiel,

Have I any PLEASURE at all that the WICKED should die? Saith THE LORD GOD: and not that he should return from his ways and live?
[Eze 18:23]
Apostle Peter notes that Yahweh is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to REPENTANCE. [II Pet 3:9] The inclination that Yahweh is a MERCILESS BEING WHO awaits and enjoys every opportunity to punish mortals each time them commit sin is a fallacy. HE desires to bless each one in the place of divine worship. It is where they belong and the purpose for their being. [Eccl 12:13] In [Rm 2:4a] Apostle Paul likens ill-judgment to despising the riches of GOD’S GOODNESS. In ministering the Word of THE LORD, one must remember that Yahweh calls souls to REPENTANCE with HIS GOODNESS. [Rm 2:4b]

*goodness (1 vs 4a) Gk #5544 chrestotes (khray-stot-ace) it is moral excellence of character and demeanor and usefulness

*goodness (vs 4b) Gk 5543 chrestos (khray-stoce) it means to be employed and useful in manner or morals

Whatever THE LORD has SPOKEN HE considers to be already done. [Isa 1:18-20; 55:11; Num 23:19] All of HIS promises are yea and amen. [II Cor 1:20] It is impossible for HIM to LIE. [Heb 6:18a] Concerning HIS Word of Promise to HIS exclusive worshipers, Apostle Paul clarifies that eternal life, glory, honor and peace already belong to those who by patient continuance in well doing seek them as they do good works. [Rm 2:7, 10]

*eternal Gk #166 aionios (ahee-o-nee-os) it means perpetual, which is…

*peace Gk #1515 eirene (i-ray-nay) it is tranquility, prosperity, being set at one again, oneness, rest and quietness

*patient continuance Gk #5281 hupomone (hoop-om-on-ay) it is endurance and constancy that is filled with cheer and hope

*well Gk #18 agathos (ag-ath-os) it is profit, advantage, worth, benefit, excellence, merit, kindness, virtue and moral righteousness

*doing Gk #2041 ergon (er-gon) it is toil as an act, effort or occupation

The idea that all mortals are Yahweh’s offspring is somewhat true. [Acts 17:28]. However, there is a difference between those who are deemed children of obedience and children of disobedience in Yahweh’s perspective. [Eph 2:2; 5:6; Col 3:6; I Jn 3:8-10] So then, just as HE allots blissful promises to the children of obedience, Yahweh allots consequential promises to the children of disobedience. Mortals who are CONTENTIOUS in their choice to remain subject to the power of sin will inherit Yahweh’s promise of INDIGNATION, WRATH, TRIBULATION and ANGUISH. [Rm 2:8, 9]

*contentious Gk #1537 ek (ek) it denotes the point from whence motion or action proceeds

*contentious Gk #2052 eritheia (er-ith-i-ah) it is intrigue and dissension

• intrigue is…
o the use of underhanded machinations and deceitful stratagems
o a plot or crafty dealing and a secret or illicit love affair i.e., idolatries

• dissension is discord, quarrel, strong disagreement, difference in sentiment and opinion

*indignation Gk #2372 thumos (thoo-mos) it is passion as breathing hard or any powerful, compelling emotion or feeling

*wrath Gk #3709 orge (or-gay) it is desire as a reaching forth or excitement of the mind, extreme hatred and punishment
*tribulation Gk #2347 thlipsis (thlip-sis) it is pressure, harassment, oppression and a constraining force or influence

*anguish Gk #4730 stenochoria (sten-okh-o-ree-ah) it is narrowness of room and calamity, which is misery, adversity, grievous affliction and great misfortune or disaster

Mortals who genuinely desire no reconciliation to Yahweh have already inherited the promise of unfortunate rewards. [Rm 2:11-29] Yahweh said through Prophet Isaiah,

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
[Isa 1:18-20]

Through Prophet Amos Yahweh said…

Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
[Amos 3:3]

Apostle John writes,

He that believeth on the Son HATH everlasting life: and he that HATH NOT the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of GOD ABIDETH upon him.
[St Jn 3:36]

In [Rm 2:11-29; 3:1-26] Apostle Paul expounds upon the idea of all mortals being equally guilty of yielding to the power of sin in Yahweh’s perspective, including Israel. The Law of Moses was only meant to clarify what sin is. It never had the ability to change the sinful nature of one’s heart, which is what Yahweh desires for all mortals. This is only obtainable through genuine FAITH in and obedience to Christ the Word. This pertains to the FAITH taught by Jesus Christ and FAITH in Jesus Christ. [St Jn 1:12, 13, 18; 8:31, 32; Gal 2:16, 20]

*faith Gk #4102 pistis (pis-tis) it is…
• persuasion, which is a deep conviction, form and system of belief
• credence, which is belief and confidence as to the truth of something
• moral conviction of religious truth, the truthfulness of Yahweh and a religious teacher
• reliance upon Jesus Christ the Word for salvation and constancy of such profession
• religious truth based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ

*believe Gk #4100 pisteuo (pist-yoo-o) it means to…
• have faith in, upon or with respect to a person or thing
• entrust especially one’s spiritual well-being to Jesus Christ

In [Rm 3:23-30] Apostle Paul clarifies that the Law of Moses is not void because the Law of Faith is now in effect for eternal salvation. He reiterates that while the Law of Moses teaches one what SIN is, the Law of Faith provides one with power to genuinely change their mind about living as a captive to the power of sin, change their mode of thinking and live in a manner where they can practice righteousness.
