An Intimate Review
Pt 13
By Lawrence DeMetrius
In [Rm 13:13] Apostle Paul admonishes the Elect of GOD to no longer partake in RIOTING, DRUNKENESS, CHAMBERING, WANTONESS, STRIFE and ENVYING.
*rioting Gk #2970 komos (ko-mos) it means to engage in boisterous and noisy feasts and festivity where people engage in drunkenness and looseness of character

*envying Gk #2205 zelos (dzay-los) it is heat and is figurative of zeal, which in the favorable sense is great warmth of feeling, intense devotion, eagerness or enthusiasm and in the unfavorable sense is jealousy
In [Rm 13:14] Apostle Paul admonishes the Elect to make no PROVISION for the FLESH to fulfill its LUSTS.
Those who fulfill the LUSTS of their FLESHLY/CARNAL/SPIRITUALLY UNREGENERATE SELF will inherit unfortunate consequences for doing so. [I Jn 2:15-17; St Jn 3:19-22, 36; Rm 8:5-7; Gal 6:7-9; Jam 1:13-15; 4:7-10]
Judge Not
In [Rm 14; Mt 7:1-5; Jn 7:24; I Cor 4:5] Apostle Paul admonishes born-again believers not to JUDGE one another, especially those who are WEAK in the divine FAITH. He explains that it takes some converts more time to become settled in the liberties of Christian FAITH. Some require extra time to feel relieved from the obligations of their previous religious rituals. As they gain more knowledge and understanding of Christ’s doctrine, they will embrace the liberties thereof as they should. [Jn 8:31, 32, 36; Gal 2:15, 20; Jude vs 3]
*weak Gk #770 astheneo (as-then-eh-o) it means to be feeble in any sense

1. persuasion and credence
2. moral conviction of a religious truth, truthfulness of Yahweh or a religious teacher

4. the system of religious truth based on The Gospel of Jesus Christ
*judge Gk # 2919 krino (kree-no) it means to distinguish, decide mentally or judicially, to try, condemn and punish
In [Rm 14:1-12] it is clear that Christians will not always agree on all expressions of PERSONAL LIBERTIES. [Mt 19:11, 12] The primary concern that born-again believers should always check, is their PERSONAL LIBERTIES before Yahweh. [Rm 3:23-26] In this passage, Apostle Paul warns that brethren of Christ are not to JUDGE others, especially one another. All souls will stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ to give an account of their own conduct. Christ condemns no one for their shortcomings at this time and neither should His brethren. [St Jn 3:16-19] What Apostle Paul does instruct the Elect to do is JUDGE whether or not they are placing STUMBLINGBLOCKS or OCCASIONS TO FALL in their BROTHER’S WAY. [Rm 14:13-23]
*stumblingblock Gk #4348 proskomma (pros-kom-mah) it is a stub or an occasion of apostasy, which is total desertion of or departure from one's religion, principles, party and cause
*occasion to fall Gk #4625 skandalon (skan-dal-on) it is a trap-stick, bent sapling or snare that is figurative of a cause of displeasure or sin
*brother Gk #80 adelphos (ad-el-fos) it is a brother literally or figuratively near or remote
*way English (noun) it is a…
1. habitual manner, mode, fashion or character
2. method, plan or means of attaining a goal
3. respect, particular, direction or vicinity
4. passage or progress onto a course
In [Rm 14:14, 20] Apostle Paul expresses that nothing of itself is UNCLEAN. However, anything one ESTEEMS as UNCLEAN for THEMSELVES is indeed UNCLEAN.
*unclean Gk #2839 koinos (koy-nos) it means common, shared by all or several, and ceremonially profane
Some LIBERTIES are not generally inappropriate but are so in certain circumstances.
*esteemeth Gk #3049 logizomai (log-id-zom-ahee) it means to take an inventory of and estimate
In [Rm 14:15-21] Apostle Paul admonishes those who are more mature in Christian FAITH to not let their PERSONAL LIBERITIES become OFFENSIVE to those who are less mature in Christian FAITH. This is an element of practicing BROTHERLY LOVE. The Elect must be careful not to GRIEVE or DESTROY anyone Christ has died for, for the sake of their PERSONAL LIBERTIES. This is especially so with new Christian converts. In fact, it is also a divine command for brethren of Christ to receive one another as Christ received them to glory of Yahweh. [Rm 15:1-7; Jn 6:37-40]
*grieve Gk #3076 lupeo (loo-peh-o) it means to cause grief, distress, sadness, heaviness or sorrow
*destroy (1) [Rm 14:15] Gk #622 apollumi (ap-ol-loo-mee) it means to fully destroy, lose or perish
*destroy (2) [Rm 14:20] Gk #2647 kataluo (kat-al-oo-o) it means to loosen down, disintegrate, demolish or halt for the night
In this passage, Apostle Paul refers to certain foods that were commonly eaten in homage to idols and thus were seen as ceremonially profane to some new Christian converts. However, this can apply to ANY PRACTICE that might be perceived as OFFENSIVE, especially to new Christian converts. In [Rm 14:22c] Apostle Paul notes that those who truly have FAITH are to have it unto themselves before Yahweh. This involves their being confident about their own PERSONAL LIBERTIES. Apostle Paul writes,
HAPPY is the man who CONDEMNETH not himself in the thing which he ALLOWETH.
[Rm 14:22c]
*happy Gk #3107 makarios (mak-ar-ee-os) it means to be supremely blessed, fortunate and well-off
*condemneth Gk #4314 pros (pros) it means pertaining to
*alloweth Gk #1381 dokimazo (dok-im-ad-zo) it means to test and approve
When one is CONFIDENT that their PERSONAL LIBERTIES are acceptable to Yahweh, by FAITH they ATTEST that such LIBERTIES do not jeopardize their relationship with HIM. Even in this HIS Word will affirm HIS approval. [Ps 119:105] In [Rm 14:23] Apostle Paul concludes this idea by expressing that anyone who DOUBTS Yahweh’s approval of their PERSONAL LIBERITES is DAMNED therefore because they are NOT CERTAIN such LIBERTIES are acceptable to HIM. Apostle Paul notes that whatever is not done in FAITH is SIN.
*doubteth Gk #1252 diakrino (dee-ak-ree-no) it means to separate thoroughly, withdraw from, oppose, discriminate, decide and hesitate
*damned Gk #2632 katakrino (kat-ak-ree-no) it means to judge against and sentence
*sin Gk #266 hamartia (ham-ar-tee-ah) it is any…
• willful or deliberate transgression of divine law, moral principle, great fault or offense
• reprehensible or regrettable action, behavior and lapse
Per [Rm 14:23], nothing should be more valuable to an Elect than maintaining and nurturing their relationship with THE LORD. Therefore, their personal LIBERTITES should always be scrutinized, so as to assure they are always presenting their BODY as a LIVING SACRIFICE HOLY and ACCEPTABLE to HIM, as this is their REASONABLE SERVICE. [Rm 12:1-3] Again, all souls will give an account for the THINGS they have do in their BODY. [Rm 14:10; Eccl 12:14, 15; Acts 17:30, 31; Rev 20:11-15]
The Power of The Holy Scriptures
In [Rm 15:4] Apostle Paul writes that the Elect of GOD are to find their patience and comfort in The Holy Scriptures and nothing else. [Rev 3:7-10] In [Rm 15:7-11] he notes that Christ’s effort to redeem Israel created The Way of Salvation for all nations. [Mt 15:24] In fact, Yahweh’s LOVE and GRACE is extended to all nations. [St Jn 3:16; I Jn 2:1, 2] In [Rm 15:13] Apostle Paul writes that the Elect of GOD are to expect HIM to keep them filled with joy and peace, so they might abound in hope through the Holy Ghost. [Rm 3:24-26; Heb 11:1, 6] In [Rm 16:17-20] he notes that Christ and His Original Apostles were not the only leaders who instructed Christians to beware of and mark apostates among them. Apostle Paul taught this as well and notes that by good deeds and cunning speech, many false teachers deceive the simple hearted. Christ warned that some false teachers will fool the very Elect if possible. Thankfully, they can be detected by comparing their conduct and philosophies to that of Christ’s. [Mt 7:15-23; 24:5, 11, 24; II Cor 11:3-4, 13-15; I Jn 2:19-29; 4:1-6; II Jn vs 7-11] The words of true Christian teachers will always be compliant to the pure teachings of Jesus Christ and accessorized with demonstration and power of the Holy Ghost.
Their effort is always to direct the FAITH of their audience to Yahweh and HIS Word of Promise. [I Cor 2:1-4]
