Letter of Apostle Paul – I Corinthians
An Intimate Review
Pt 3
By Lawrence DeMetrius
In [I Cor 5] Apostle Paul continues to expound upon the idea of SPIRITUAL IMMATURITY in addition to an account of FORNICATION involving a leader in this Christian Assembly, who was engaging in sexual relations with his father’s wife. Apostle Paul was disturbed by the inability of the leadership staff of this church to effectively address the issue themselves. Per Apostle Paul, those who profess to be born-again Christians but willingly and consistently engage in ungodly conduct, are to be excommunicated from the assembly, namely those who hold offices of high influence. This is until they sincerely repent and resume divine worship.

• adultery is voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and someone other than their lawful spouse
• incest is…
o sexual intercourse between closely related persons
o the crime of sexual intercourse, cohabitation or marriage between persons within the degrees of consanguinity or affinity wherein marriage is legally forbidden
2. figurative of idolatry
In [I Cor 6:1-8] Apostle Paul addresses the practice of Christians battling one another in courts of law instead of handling their issues in Christian Counsel. He likened such practice to DEFRAUD.
*defraud Gk #650 apostereo (ap-os-ter-eh-o) it means to…
• despoil, which is to…
o strip of possessions and things of value
o rob, plunder and pillage, which is to ruthlessly strip of money or goods by open violence as in war
• be destitute and kept back by fraud
This is what Christians do when they turn to worldly courts to settle their petty disputes. In regard to such disputes Christ said,
Moreover, if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglects to hear the church, let him be unto thee as a heathen man and a publican.
[Mt 18:14-17]
In all situations Christians have the duty and obligation to engage one another in brotherly love and godly wisdom. [Jn 13:34, 35; I Jn 4:7-21]
In [I Cor 6:9, 10] Apostle Paul reiterates that some mortals will not inherit the KINGDOM of GOD.

[Mt 6:10; Lk 17:20, 21; Rm 14:17; Jn 7:37-39; I Pet 2:9; Rev 1:5,6] He warned the Elect not to be DECEIVED regarding the fate of those who reject salvation, to pacify the desires of their carnal nature. The key characteristic of these SPIRITUALLY UNREGENERATE souls is that they are MALES who engage in forbidden sexual activity for sensual gratification and in exchange for something of value. This type of engagement has taken place from the most ancient of times and was a prominent practice of idolatry. Such practice was done to invoke manifested desires from evil spirits. In Canaan, SODOMY was a form of pagan worship that was practiced to invoke the blessing of fertility of body and agriculture from Ashtoreth, embraced as the Goddess of Heaven. In realty, such idol worship is the origin of PROSTITUTION and witchcraft. Cultural Milieu Analysis will give fuller understanding of this subject matter. [Lev 18:22; 20:13]

The COVETOUS are people who want temporal things so much they disregard the eternal and durable riches of spiritual and eternal life. [Mt 6:18-20, 24; 16:24-26; 19:16-29; Jn 8:24; Lk 12:15; II Tim 6:4-10; Col 3:1, 2; II Jn 2:15, 16]

In [I Cor 5:11; II Cor 5:17-19] Apostle Paul reminds the Elect that they once practiced such deeds and should live in manner that excludes this conduct.
