Letter of Apostle Paul – Galatians
An Intimate Review
Pt 6
By Lawrence DeMetrius
In [Gal 6:1] Apostle Paul gives counsel as to how SPIRITUAL persons are to RESTORE those who are OVERTAKEN in a FAULT writing,
Brethren, if a man be OVERTAKEN in a FAULT, ye which are SPIRITUAL, RESTORE such a one in the SPIRIT of MEEKNESS; CONSIDERING thyself, lest thou also be TEMPTED.

Apostle Paul is likely referring to RESTORING Christians who have been OVERTAKEN in FAULTS. However, the service of spiritual restoration must be rendered in the mindset of MEEKNESS. The definition of a FAULT is a lapse, deviation, willful transgression and unintentional error, which applies to all mortals. Born-again believers are given divine authority to repair and adjust souls to health through Christ and the Holy Ghost. [Mt 28:18-20; Jn 6:63; Eph 4:29; Pro 18:21; Phil 2:5; Acts 1:8; Gal 5:16, 22, 23, 25; Rev 19:10b] Simply having a religious demeanor does not account for being SPIRITUAL. Anyone can have a form of godliness and deny the power thereof. [II Tim 3:5] Christ Jesus did not engage people with a harsh or nasty tone. He always served souls with MEEKNESS, which by definition is GENTLENESS and HUMILITY. Per Apostle Paul, the mindset of MEEKNESS is necessary to effectively administer the Word of Life. [II Tim 2:24-26] King Solomon advised that to gain a friend, one must first show himself friendly. [Pro 18:24] Born-again believers must continually practice self-discipline and self-examination to maintain their allegiance with Christ in this manner. [I Cor 9:24-27; II Cor 13:5; Rev 3:8, 10] Indeed, it will never be more about scrutinizing others as it is about one’s own disposition before Yahweh. SPIRITUALLY mature persons learn to acknowledge the reality and value of mortal weakness. [Mt 26:41; Rev 3:8] This revelation is especially vital in the ministry of soul RESTORATION. Thus, Apostle Paul warns those who are truly SPIRITUAL to CONSIDER their own state-of-being before THE LORD when dealing with others. This is to ensure that they do not invoke TESTS upon themselves writing,
BEAR ye one another’s BURDENS, and so FULFILL the LAW of Christ.
[Gal 6:2]
*bear Gk #941 bastazo (bas-tad-zo) it means to lift, endure, declare, sustain, carry and take up
*burden (1) Gk #922 baros (bar-os) it is a weight and is figurative of a load, abundance and authority
*fulfill Gk #378 anapleroo (an-ap-lay-ro-o) it means to complete, occupy, supply and accomplish by obedience and coincidence
*law Gk #3551 nomos (nom-os) it is…
• law per the idea of prescriptive usage and general regulation
• the Mosaic law with all its volumes
• the Gospel of Jesus Christ
In regard to the carnal minded Apostle Paul writes,
For if a man THINK himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
[Gal 6:3]
*think Gk #1380 dokeo (dok-eh-o) it means to seem truthfully or uncertainly
In [Gal 6:4, 5] Apostle Paul advises that proper regard to oneself enables them to PROVE their own WORK. This causes one to REJOICE more in their personal productivity than in another’s. [Mt 24:14, 15, 29, 30; Eph 4:15, 16] While brethren of Christ should respectfully acknowledge and appreciate each other’s ministerial productivity, they should never consider their own WORKS for THE LORD less valuable than any others in HIS kingdom. Apostle Paul writes,
But let every man PROVE his own WORK, and then shall he have REJOICING in himself alone, and not in another.
For every man shall BEAR his own BURDEN.
[Gal 6:4, 5]
*prove Gk #1381 dokimazo (dok-im-ad-zo) it means to discern, allow, examine, try, test and approve
*work Gk #2041 ergon (er-gon) it is an act and toil as effort and occupation
*burden (2) Gk #5413 phortion (for-tee-on) it is an invoice as a part of a freight, task and service
*rejoicing Gk #2745 kauchema (kow-khay-mah) it is a boast or act
In [Gal 6:6] Apostle Paul encourages the well advised to continue COMMUNICATING with those who TEACH GOOD things. [Mt 12:35; Jn 8:31, 32; Isa 50:4; Dan 12:3, 10; Pro 1:1-7; 13:14, 20; 15:7, 23; 20:18; 21:11b; 24:6] He writes,
Let him that is TAUGHT in the WORD COMMUNICATE unto him that TEACHETH in ALL GOOD things.
[Gal 6:6]
*taught/teacheth Gk #2727 katecheo (kat-ay-kheh-o) it means to…
• sound down into the ears
• indoctrinate or catechize, which is to…
o orally instruct by means of questions and answers, especially Christian doctrine
o closely question with reference to belief
• give notice, inform and advise
*communicate Gk #2841 koinoneo (koy-no-neh-o) it means to share with others
*good Gk #18 agathos (ag-ath-os) it means…
• morally excellent, virtuous, righteous and pious
• satisfactory in quality, quantity and degree
• of high quality, excellent, proper and fit
• kind, beneficent, friendly and well-behaved
• honorable, worthy and in good standing
The practice of COMMUNICATING GOOD THINGS is BENEFICIAL, as no one knows or specializes in all subjects of importance. When wise people share and receive one another’s insight, there is consistent development, evolution and refining of social consciousness, mind and intellect. [Heb 13:16] Thus, Yahweh expects HIS Elect to edify one another by sharing their insight. [Dan 12:3, 10; Mt 11:28-30; 28:19, 20; Jn 6:37-40, 44, 45, 65; 8:31, 32, 36, 43, 47; 10:4, 5, 14, 16, 26, 27; II Tim 2:24-26; Rm 10:14, 15, 17] In [Gal 6:7-16] Apostle Paul reiterates the initial subject of this letter, which is vain religiosity and how the Elect are to deal with it.
The ritual addressed in this passage is circumcision and whether or not a Gentile Christian should have it performed. Per Apostle Paul, such ritualism was carnal, unnecessary and unbeneficial for spiritual regeneration.
He suggested that those who teach and receive such vanities invoke upon themselves unnecessary consequence. He insisted that faith filled obedience to the pure Doctrine of Jesus Christ is all one needs to receive the Holy Ghost, fruit and eternal gratuities thereof.
