Letter of Apostle Paul – Titus
An Intimate Review
Pt 2
By Lawrence DeMetrius
In [Tit 2:1] it is evident that Apostle Paul knew his mortal life was coming to a close and he is setting things in order first with ordinances for Christian leaders. As he did with young Pastor Timothy, he clarified with Titus what was to be taught in Christian Assemblies, writing,
But SPEAK the THINGS which BECOME SOUND DOCTRINE.
[Tit 2:1]

In [Tit 2:7, 8] Apostle Paul reiterates that true Christian teachers are to show themselves a pattern of good works, in doctrine, incorruptness, gravity, sincerity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned. In so doing they will cause those who are contrary to Yahweh’s directives to be ashamed for doing so. It also keeps them from truthfully speaking evil things about those who do teach and obey them. In [Tit 2:2] Apostle Paul advises that SPEAKING SOUND DOCTRINE invokes godly character in the Elect at every stage of their spiritual growth. He suggests that SPEAKING SOUND DOCTRINE empowers AGED MEN to be SOBER, GRAVE, TEMPERATE and SOUND in FAITH, CHARITY and PATIENCE. This suggests that as one matures in Christ, they should be able to adhere to higher standards of demeanor then when they were less mature.

True born-again believers perceive that Christ is a divine DEITY. However, this concept of Christ is not embraced by many, including Hebrews who during His mortal lifetime, despite the prophecies spoken of Him by Enoch and their own forefathers. [Eno 39:6, 7; 46; Gen 3:15; Gal 4:4-7; Mt 1:18-25; Lk 24:44, 45; Jn 5:39-47] In fact, it was due to Christ’s testimony of being Yahweh’s direct Offspring they wanted Him executed. [Jn 10:29-33] Christ mentions the word ‘gods’ Gk #2316 per [Jn 10:34, 35] as an epithet, in which He references [Ps 82:1-8]. Here, ‘gods’ refer to the SELECT FEW who are chosen of Yahweh to administer HIS Word of Wisdom. In ancient Israel, those acknowledged with this epithet were leaders, rulers and counselors by the general public who relied upon their guidance and enforcement of justice. Unfortunately, those who occupy such seats of influence can be become instruments of Lucifer when they begin to distribute lies instead of truth. [Hos 4:6; Isa 64:6; Pro 6:16-19; Mt 15:2, 3, 6] Since ancient times, Yahweh established that no word is to be revered above HIS OWN, including that of those who occupy seats of high influence. In [Tit 2:14] because true born-again believers are of Christ reconciled to oneness with Yahweh through the Holy Ghost, they are IN SPIRIT divine ELOHIYMS. A price was paid for their regeneration which Apostle Paul refers to writing,
Who GAVE Himself for us that He might REDEEM us from all INIQUITY, and PURIFY unto Himself a PECULIAR people, ZEALOUS of good works.
[Tit 2:14]
*gave Gk #1325 didomi (did-o-mee) it means to give
*redeem Gk #3084 lutroo (loo-tro-o) it means to ransom, which is to
redeem from captivity, bondage and detention by paying a demanded price, release upon receipt of a ransom and deliver from punishment of sin
*iniquity Gk #458 anomia (an-om-ee-ah) it is illegality, violation of law and wickedness
*purify Gk #2511 katharizo (kath-ar-id-zo) it means to cleanse
*peculiar Gk #4041 periousios (per-ee-oo-see-os) it means special, beyond usual, one’s own and peculiar, which is strange, queer, odd, uncommon, unusual and distinctive from others in nature and character, belonging characteristically and exclusively to some person, group or thing [I Pet 2:9; I Cor 2:11-16; Rev 1:5, 6]
Jesus Christ is the only Person Who can do this for mortals. [Acts 4:10-12] He is the only Righteousness required to be reconciled to favor with Yahweh. [Rm 3:21-26; 1:4; I Cor 1:30] Christ speaks of their PECULIAR nature of His brethren in His dialogue with Nicodemus. [St Jn 3:1-21] Only they have capacity to be ZEALOUS of works that please THE LORD.
*zealous Gk #2207 zelotes (dzay-lo-tace) it is a zealot, fanatic or filled with excessive zeal and ardor
• zeal is fervor for a person, cause or object, enthusiastic diligence, eager desire and endeavor
• ardor is great warmth of feeling, fervor, passion and burning heat, intense devotion, eagerness and enthusiasm
Jeremiah described his passion for Yahweh and HIS WORD as fire shut up in his bones. [Jer 20:9] The Fiery Source of their effectiveness is the Holy Ghost, given only to them because they believe on Christ as the scriptures have said. [Jn 7:37-39] Per [Tit 2:14, 15] only they are empowered to effectively SPEAK, EXHORT and REBUKE with all AUTHORITY, allowing no one to DESPISE them.
*rebuke Gk #1651 elegcho (el-eng-kho) it means to confute, admonish, convict, convince, tell a fault and reprove
*authority Gk #2003 epitage (ep-ee-tag-ay) it is authoritativeness, decree and injunction, which is an act or instance of enjoining, admonition, order and a command
*despise Gk #4065 periphroneo (per-ee-fron-eh-o) it means to think beyond , depreciate, treat or regard with disdain, scorn and contempt
It is difficult to effectively SPEAK on Yahweh’s behalf when one is not personally compliant to HIS directives or does not honestly themselves. It is also challenging to be a spokesperson for THE LORD when one does not honestly respect themselves as one sent to speak for HIM.
