Letter to the Hebrews
An Intimate Review
Pt 7
By Lawrence DeMetrius
Christ the Perfected High Priest
In [Heb 7:1-17] the scribe compares the priesthood of Christ to that of King Melchizedek. Both High Priests were of an order that was higher than that ascribed to The Levites. Both were established without being subject to or qualified by the standards required for The Levites. Both were more accessible and ready to serve all nations. However, the scribe notes that Jesus Christ possessed a quality of nature that was far more superior than any High Priest of Yahweh, including King Melchizedek. The scribe notes in [Heb 7:13-28; 8; 9] that only Christ in His glorified nature is able to change the nature of mortals before Yahweh. [Heb 7:25; I Cor 1:30; I Jn 3:1-3] Jesus Christ is the only High Priest Who literally sits at THE RIGHT HAND of Yahweh. [Heb 8:1, 2] He is the only High Priest Who serves as Minister in the sanctuary and tabernacle of Yahweh in the high Heavens. He is the only other High Priest Who is called in the order of Melchizedek. [Heb 7:18-28; 8:3-7, 13; 9:1-10] Christ is the only High Priest by Whom Yahweh has established The New Covenant, which is not founded by rudiments of The Mosaic Law. Jesus Christ is the only High Priest Who ever lives and is purposed to save and intercede for those given to Him by Yahweh. [Jn 6:37-40, 44, 45, 65; 17:19] He is the only High Priest Whose Blood renders one free from the power of sin and purges their mind from dead works, so they may worship Yahweh AGAIN in spirit and in truth. [Heb 9:11-28; 10:1-17; Eccl 12:13; St Jn 4:23, 24; II Cor 4:3; 10: 4, 5; Eph 4:17, 18, 23; I Jn 2:1, 2; 3:8; 5:20] This gives credence to the idea of Christ being able to pierce through and correct one’s CO-PERCEPTIVE ABILITY, which was obscured per Adam’s transgression. Christ, Yahweh’s Word incarnate, enables the mortal mind to perceive how fearfully, marvelously and wonderfully mortals are made in Yahweh’s perspective. [Heb 4:12; Ps 139:14; Gen 1:26, 27; 2: 9, 17; 3; Lk 4:18, 19; St Jn 1:1-14; 8:31, 32, 36; Eph 6:17; I Jn 3:8]
*conscience Gk #4893 suneidesis (soon-i-day-sis) it is co-perception and moral consciousness
Per [Heb 9:11-28] this is why Christ and His brethren speak only what Yahweh has spoken, especially about HIS master creation. When THE LORD’S WORDS are effectively communicated and mixed with faith, abundant life is restored to the mortal mind. [Isa 50:4; Jn 12:45-50; II Cor 4:3-7; Eph 4:29; Jam 4:7-10; II Tim 2:24-26; Heb 11:6; Pro 8:17-21, 32- 36] In [Heb 10:14-12:2] the scribe continues to expound upon the idea of remaining faithful to Christ and His doctrine writing,
For by one offering, He hath PERFECTED forever them that are SANCTIFIED.
[Heb 10:14]
*perfected Gk #5048 teleioo (tel-i-o-o) it means to complete, finish, fulfill, consecrate, accomplish and consummate in character
*sanctified Gk #37 hagiazo (hag-ee-ad-zo) it means to make holy, ceremonially purr, consecrate and venerate, which is revered, regarded and treated with reverence
Although sanctification and spiritual perfection is afforded to all mortals, it is only applicable to mortals whose minds are submitted to Yahweh through Christ. [Jn 17:17; 1:11-14; II Tim 2:24-26; II Cor 4:3; 10: 4, 5; Eph 4:18, 23] In [Heb 10:15-17] Christ the Word is the only Means by which one can be made new and faultless in Yahweh’s perspective. [Jn 14:6; II Cor 5:17-19; I Jn 3:1-3] The scribe writes,
Whereof the Holy Ghost is also a WITNESS unto a us; for after that HE had said before,
This is the COVENANT that I will make with them AFTER those days, saith THE LORD, I will put MY LAWS into their HEARTS, and in their MINDS will I WRITE them; And their sins I will REMEMBER no more.
[Heb 10:15-17]

Jesus Christ made it clear that Yahweh only desires to be worshiped in SPIRIT meaning a RENEWED INTELLECT and TRUTH which is REALITY. One must wholeheartedly acknowledge that Yahweh is THE ONLY TRUE AND LIVING GOD and not some contrived deities, as are many in the minds of spiritually unregenerate mortals. [St Jn 4:23, 24; Heb 11:6]
*write Gk #1924 epigrapho (ep-ee-graf-o) it means to physically or mentally inscribe or write in, over or thereon

In [Heb 10:10, 17, 18; Jn 17:17; 3:26] the aforementioned is a gratuity bestowed upon those who submit their holistic being to Yahweh through Christ by faith filled obedience. Thus, the scribe writes,
Now where REMISSION of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
Having therefore, brethren, BOLDNESS to enter into the Holiest by the Blood of Jesus, by a new and living WAY, which He hath CONSECRATED for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh; And having a High Priest over the House of God; Let us draw near with a TRUE heart in FULL ASSURANCE of FAITH, having our HEARTS sprinkled from an EVIL CONSCIENCE, and our BODIES WASHED with PURE WATER.
[Heb 10:18-22; Jn 3:16-18; Rm 8:1]

The scribe reiterates STEADFASTNESS in the FAITH taught by Jesus Christ writing,
Let us hold fast the profession of our FAITH without wavering; (for HE is faithful WHO promised) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and good works: Not forsaking the assembly of ourselves together, as the manner of some is: but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. For if we SIN willfully after that we have received the knowledge of truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
[Heb 10:23-27]
*sin Gk #264 hamartano (ham-ar-tan-o) it means to miss the mark and so not share in the prize
The writer is specifically referring to the SIN of UNBELIEF in what Yahweh has already spoken. It is indeed the SIN that will cause many TO MISS THE MARK AND SO NOT SHARE IN THE PRIZE OF ETERNAL LIFE. [Heb 12:1; Rev 3:8, 10]

*adversaries Gk #5227 hupenantos (hoop-en-an-tee-os) it means overtly under, contrary to, opposed and an opponent
This refers to all that is not compliant to Yahweh’s rule. [Heb 10:31; St Jn 3:19, 20, 36; Rm 5:5-8; Jam 4:7] In [Heb 10:28-36] the scribe uses ancient Hebrew regulation as an example of what happened to those who failed to comply to Yahweh’s rule writing,
He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden underfoot the Son of God, and hath counted the Blood of the covenant, wherewith he was SANCTIFIED, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know HIM that hath said, VENGEANCE belongs unto ME, I will recompense, saith THE LORD. And again, THE LORD shall judge HIS people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the HANDS of THE LIVING GOD.
[Heb 10:28-31]
This passage specifically speaks of those who RENOUNCE The Christian Faith, particularly those who go on to teach against it or erroneous versions of it, feigning as ministers of GOD. This happened in ancient times, is happening in the present time and will continue to happen in some form or another until the consummation of ages. [Gen 3; Mt 7:15-23; 24:5, 7, 11, 23; II Cor 11:3, 4, 13-15; Gal 1:6-9; I Jn 2:18-29] In fact, only genuine belief and continuance in Christ’s doctrine can one protect themselves from the seduction of highly subtle liars. [Ps 119:25; Jn 5:39, 46, 47; 6: 63, 68; 7:37-39; 8:31, 32, 36; 14:26; 16:13; II Tim 2:15; 3:16-18; II Pet 1:20; Heb 5:12-14; I Jn 4:1-6; II Jn vs 7-11] Per this passage the audience being addressed was undergoing great persecution due to their allegiance to Christ and His Creed.
With the tone of Apostle Paul, the scribe writes,
But call to remembrance the former days, in which ye were ILLUMINATED, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; Partly, whilst ye were made a gazing stock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used. For ye had compassion of me in my bonds and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance. Cast not away therefore your CONFIDENCE, which hath great RECOMPENSE of REWARD. For ye have need of patience, that, AFTER ye have done the WILL of God, ye might receive the PROMISE.
[Heb 10:32-36]
*illuminated Gk #5461 photizo (fo-tid-zo) it means to shed rays, shine, enlighten, bring or give light and make to see
The Elect of Yahweh must always bear in mind Who and What Jesus Christ is to them per the revelation of the Holy Ghost. This revelation is directly imparted to them from THE DIVINE GODHEAD and supersedes formal theological training in the Holy Scriptures. [Mt 16:13-17; Jn 6:37-40, 44, 45, 65; II Tim 2:24-26]
*confidence Gk #3954 parrhesia (par-rhay-see-ah) it means all out-spokeness, frank, blunt, public and assured
*recompense Gk #467 antapodidomi (an-tap-od-ee-do-mee) it means to requite good or evil, render and repay
*reward Gk #3405 misthapodosia (mis-thap-od-os-ee-ah) it is requital of good or bad
*will Gk #2307 thelema (thel-ay-ma) it is a determination, thing determined, choice, purpose, decree, inclination, desire and pleasure
It is important to recognize that Yahweh only accommodates HIS WILL. The best that any mortal can do is tailor their requests according to HIS WILL. [Mt 6:10; Phil 2:13; I Jn 5:14] The primary WILL of Yahweh is for Christ to redeem and prepare those given to Him by Yahweh to worship HIM forever and ever. [Rm 8:28-30]
*receive Gk #2865 komizo (kom-id-zo) it means to provide for, carry off as if from harm and to bring or generally obtain
*promise Gk #1860 epaggelia (ep-ang-el-ee-ah) it is an announcement for information, assent, pledge, especially divine assurance of good or a message
The pioneers of The Christian Faith believed Christ would someday return. Thus, they often referred to the SIN of UNBELIEF and becoming an APOSTATE of the FAITH He imparted to His disciples. The scribe writes,
For yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by FAITH; but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
[Heb 10:37-39; Eze 18:4, 19-23, 31, 32; Rev 20:11-15]
Thus, all who are JUSTIFIED by FAITH in the Person and Blood of Jesus Christ, are admonished to remain personally empowered to continually live as devoted Christians. [Rm 1:16, 17; 3:26; Gal 2:16, 20] This is why Christ decreed that only they who continue in His words will know truth, its liberating power and secure eternal life. [Jn 3:36; 8:31, 32, 36; Rev 3:8, 10]
