Letter of Apostle Peter – I Peter
An Intimate Review
Pt 10
By Lawrence DeMetrius
In [I Pet 3:18-22] Apostle Peter expounds on SUFFERING for doing what is RIGHT with Christ as example writing,
For Christ, also hath once suffered for sins, the just for unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit;
[I Pet 3:18]
No other religious leader can boast being from above. [Jn 8:23; Heb 10:1-14] No other religious leader can boast being the true Christ and prophesied Messiah. [Gen 3:15; Isa 9:2, 6, 7; Mt 1:21-23; Gal 4:4-7; I Cor 8:6] No other was qualified to become The Propitiation that atoned for the sins of the whole world. [I Jn 2:1, 2] No other religious leader has the ability to guide mortals back into divine worship with Yahweh. [Eccl 12:13; St Jn 4:23, 24; 1:1-4, 11-13; 3:16-19, 36; 14:6; 6:37-40, 44, 45; Act 4:10-12; Heb 7:25; Mt 11:27-30; 28:18; I Jn 3:8-10; 5:20] Apostle Peter admonishes the Elect to remain faithful to Yahweh per the teachings of Jesus Christ, even in the face of adversity. [Heb 12:1-3] Apostle Peter uses The Great Flood of Noah’s Day to exemplify spiritual waters that now purge one from the filth of their carnal mind so they may be live per divine perspective. As in The Great Flood, those who fail to seize opportunity to be saved by complying to Yahweh’s Word will be washed away AS FILTH by the same Word. Apostle Peter writes,
By which also He went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a-preparing, wherein few, that is eight souls were saved by water.
The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Who is gone into heaven, and on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being MADE subject unto Him.
[I Pet 3:19-22; Mt 28:18; Lk 10:19; Heb 1]
In [I Pet 4:1-6] Apostle Peter further expounds upon WHY and HOW Christ endured His SUFFERING. He did so by remaining focused on Yahweh with a GOOD CONSCIENCE. His brethren are expected to follow suite. Apostle Peter notes that SUFFERING for righteousness’ sake is evidence of one’s ceasing from the service of sin, the power of death. [Jam 1:13-15; Rm 6:23; 8:5-8; Gal 6:7-9; I Jn 3:8-10] He writes,
Forasmuch then as Christ hath SUFFERED for us in the FLESH, ARM yourselves likewise with the same MIND: for he that has SUFFERED in the FLESH hath CEASED from sin;
[I Pet 4:1]
Obedience to divine directives is only difficult when one’s MIND is not focused on Yahweh and Christ the Word. It is more challenging to obey divine directives when one is more interested in entertaining the desires of their FLESH or CARNAL NATURE. [I Jn 5:3; St Jn 3:19, 20]

[Rm 8:28-30] This is all the more reason why the Elect should daily pray, seek and be given to the accomplishing of GOD’S WILL for their life. In [I Pet 4:3] Apostle Peter notes that Yahweh spiritually empowers HIS Elect to LIVE in a manner that pleases HIM and fulfills HIS WILL, not that of the FLESH and CARNAL NATURE. Apostle Peter then discloses that the Elect may at times undergo seasons of persecution due to their acceptance of new life in Christ. He writes,
For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the WILL of the Gentiles when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominalbe idolatries:

Wherein they think it STRANGE that ye RUN NOT with them to the same EXCESS of RIOT, SPEAKING EVIL of you:
Who shall give account to Him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
For this cause was the Gospel preached unto them that are dead that THEY might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
[I Pet 4:4-6]
