The Book of Jubilees
An Intimate Review Pt 2
By Lawrence DeMetrius

Chapters 8 and 9 report that it was in Noah’s day the earth was divided amongst his three sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth. [vs 8-10] For Yahweh’s OWN reason the most blessed portion of land was appointed to Shem. [vs 17-21; 10:29-34] The division of land amongst Noah’s sons is the origin of the geographical division of nations. Apostle Paul later expresses that the primary reason for different nationalities is so all people could re-discover their HEAVENLY FATHER. [Jub 10:22; Acts 17:26-28] These territories were permanently bound by an oath and a curse should any violate their boundaries. This arrangement is in place until The Final Day of Judgment. So then, it is the will of THE LORD that there are various languages, nationalities, ethnicities and cultures. Furthermore, no one gets to choose the group they are born into for THE LORD determines that for everyone.

Chapter 10 reveals the special prayer of Noah. [vs 3-6] Noah is second only to Enoch in greatness. [vs 15-17] It teaches that the only goal of Lucifer, fallen angels, and evil spirits is to destroy children of the earth, which is reiterated by Christ Jesus. [Jn 10:10]

Chapter 11 covers the subjects of murder, dominance, chattel slavery, idolatry, and the work of Mastema who is Lucifer and of all evil spirits. [vs 2-5] It notes that agricultural failure can result as a result of demonic activity. [vs 11-14] The chapter tells of the birth of Abram, The Son Terah the Chaldean. It tells of his power to ward off elements that were demonically influenced at the age 14. [vs 19] It tells of his fame as a righteous man and teacher of THE LORD. [vs 20-24]

Chapter 12 advises that Abram knew that Yahweh created all things by HIS Word. [vs 4; St Jn 1:1-14; I Cor 8:6] It reports that Terah, Abram’s father, knew that idol worship was wrong but because of his position in society, and because he was a man pleasure, he encouraged and supported it. [vs 1-12] The chapter reiterates that Sarai, Haran’s youngest daughter, was also known as Abram’s sister. This was so because his father Terah adopted her when her father Haran died. [vs 9] The passage gives a different account of Haran’s death, stating that he died in a fire trying to save family idols. [Jasher Chapter 12]
In The Book of Jasher it is reported that he was sentenced to death by capital punishment with death by fire, with Abram for concealing Abram’s true identity when he was a child. [Jasher Chapter 8] What is certain per both accounts is that Haran ultimately died by fire because his heart was not whole toward THE LORD. [vs 14; II Chr 16:9; Hos 4:6; Mt 6:22-24; Jam 1:5-8] The passage tells of Abram’s prayer that he and his descendants not be led astray from THE LORD by evil spirits that have influence over the hearts or minds of mortals. This prayer is applicable to all who are predestinated to worship Yahweh exclusively. [vs 20; 19:28; Rm 4] Chapter 12 goes on to reveal that at one time the only language spoken, written and read on earth was the ancient Hebrew tongue. However, with the destruction of The Tower of Babel, Yahweh initiated other languages, by which nationalities were generated. Recognition of various ethnicities and cultures came afterward. [vs 25-27]

Chapter 13 reveals that in regard to Hebrew religious leaders namely priests, Yahweh allotted tithes thereto as a means of financial support. [vs 25, 26] However, as noted in The Book of Jasher, tithes were customary taxes paid to Kings or Pharaohs of Egypt. [15:8, 11] Later, it also became the portion of Abraham’s increase that he chose to give toward the services of THE LORD. [27:27; 32:10-15]

Chapter 14 accounts for 400 YEARS OF SLAVERY for Abraham’s descendants, which was not in ancient Egypt as they were not slaves there for that long. [vs 13, 16]

Chapter 15 speaks of the ultimate purpose ministering angels. [vs 27-32; Heb 1:7, 13, 14] It expresses how serious Yahweh is about HIS chosen ones and the method by which HE sanctifies them. In regard to the ancient Hebrews, it was by laws specifically given for them to follow, namely circumcision of Hebrew males and males they owned as servants. Today, Yahweh requires of HIS servants circumcision of the heart by Jesus Christ the Word and HIS Holy Spirit. [Rm 3:21-26; 10:1-4; Jn 17:17; I Cor 1:31; Heb 10:10, 14]

Chapter 16 foretells of Jesus the Christ and The Holy Nation born of His faithfulness and self-sacrifice unto Yahweh. [vs 17, 18, 26; St Jn 1:11-13; I Pet 2:9; Rev 1:5, 6]

Chapter 17 reiterates that there is no respect of person with THE LORD, for as HE was faithful to Sarah and her children, so too was HE faithful to Hagar and her children. [vs 11-15; Rm 2:11] As HE tested Job so too did HE test other patriarchs of faith such as Abraham and even HIS Christ. [vs 16-18; Job 1:6; Mt 4:1-11]

Chapter 18 emphasizes that Abraham decreed that which he believed, which was everything Yahweh told him regarding himself and his descendants. [vs 4, 17; 17:16-18] King Solomon teaches of the power of such speech. [Pro 18:4, 20, 21] Jesus Christ teaches His brethren to speak in this manner when in prayer to Yahweh. [Mk 11:21-23]

Chapter 19 reiterates that evil spirits have no power in the lives of the chosen people of GOD. [vs 28; 12:20] Therefore, the Elect are admonished to not give evil spirits room in their lives to wreak havoc through faithlessness, unbelief, and disobedience. [Jn 10:10; Eph 4:27; Jam 4:7]

Chapter 20 expresses how adamant Abraham was about abstinence from fornication and uncleanliness. [vs 1-6; 33:10-20] He warned against the kind of fornication by which sin entered into the world, which was that committed between children of heaven and earth. Enoch wrote of such fornication, and Apostle Jude writes of it in is his epistle as engagement with strange flesh. [Eno 6; 7; 10; Jude vs 6, 7] The passage clarifies that the children of Ishmael the son of Abraham’s 2nd wife Keturah and Arabians are descendants of Abraham. [vs 11-13]

Chapter 22 reads of how Abraham reiterated the error of idolatry and fate of all who practice it. [vs 16-18, 21, 22]
