Christ, the Divine Hope of Eternal Life
{See Lessons 5, 6, 20, 21, 37, 39, 55, 75}
By Lawrence DeMetrius
Jesus Christ is The Divine Hope of Eternal Life. Apostle Paul writes,
O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
[Rm 7:24, 25]
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ;
Who gave Himself for us that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
[Tit 2:13, 14]
The book of Hebrews notes,
Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of HIS counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
Whither the Forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order or Melchisedec.
[Heb 6:17-20]
Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.
[Heb 7:25]
Apostle Peter writes,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
Whom having not seen, ye love; in Whom, though now ye see Him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
[I Pet 1:3-9]
Apostle John writes,
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore, the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.
[I Jn 3:1-3]
Yahweh worshippers are admonished to cling to Christ with all their heart, soul, and mind. The Lord Jesus said,
Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
[Mt 22:37, 38]
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
[Mk 12:30, 33]
The book of Hebrews notes,
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised;)
[Heb 10:23]
The Lord Jesus said,
Because thou hast kept the word of My patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
[Rev 3:10, 11]
Christ alone is The Open Door into abundant and everlasting life. He said,
Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
All that ever came before Me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
I am the door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
[Jn 10:7-10]
I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by Me.
[Jn 14:6]
Christ is also The Shut Door to unbearable temptations. He says to those likened to the Church of Philadelphia,
These things saith He that is holy, He that is true, He that hath the key of David, He that openeth, and no man shutteth, and shutteth, and no man openeth;
I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept My word, and hast not denied My Name.
[Rev 3:7, 8]
All that Yahweh has prepared for HIS Elect is in Christ Jesus. King Solomon writes,
I love them that love Me; and those that seek Me early <diligently> shall find me.
Riches and honor are with Me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.
My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver,
I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:
That I may cause those that love Me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures,
[Pro 8:17-21]
The Lord Jesus said,
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and HIS Righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
[Mt 6:33]
Apostle John writes,
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
[Rm 14:17, 18]
The Lord Jesus said,
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
[Jn 14:27]
Apostle Paul writes,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, WHO hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
According as HE hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before HIM in love:
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to HIMSELF, according to the good pleasure of HIS will.
To the praise of the glory of HIS grace, wherein HE hath made us accepted in the Beloved.
[Eph 1:3-6]
But my God shall supply all your need according to HIS riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
[Phil 4:19]
All who entrust themselves to Yahweh through Christ Jesus will never be ashamed for doing so, nor will they be shamed by Christ before THE LORD on The Day of Judgment. Apostle Paul writes,
As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a Stumbling Stone and Rock of Offence: and whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.
[Rm 9:33]
The Lord Jesus said,
Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of Me and of My words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when He cometh in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.
[Mk 8:38]
Having this promise, every soul is admonished to receive and cleave to Christ, the Divine Hope of Eternal Life.
