Lesson 43 of 77
Obedience To the Divine Yields New Life
{See Lessons 3, 13, 36, 39}
By Lawrence DeMetrius
New life and the benefits thereof can only be obtained by faith filled obedience to Yahweh through Christ the Word and HIS directives. Apostle Paul writes,
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
[Rm 6:16]
Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
And all things are of God, WHO hath reconciled us to HIMSELF by Jesus Christ…
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto HIMSELF…
[II Cor 5:17-19]
The Lord Jesus said,
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
[Jn 6:63]
If ye continue in My word, then are ye My Disciples indeed;
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
[Jn 8:31, 32, 36]
Reverent acknowledgement of the Testimony of Christ allots opportunity to receive of Yahweh spiritual empowerment to deliver one’s self from the influence of satanic forces.
Apostle Paul writes,
And the servant of THE LORD must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves: if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth:
And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
[II Tim 2:24-26]
Unfeigned faith in Christ as the scriptures have said is prerequisite to wholeheartedly embracing His testimony and teachings. He said,
These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning Me.
Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures.
[Lk 24:44, 45]
If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink.
He that believeth on Me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
(But this spake He of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
[Jn 7:37-39]
Apostle Paul writes,
But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.
For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him.
For whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.
How then shall they call on Him in Whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.
[Rm 10:8-18]
The divine truth of Christ can only be imparted by Yahweh, because it is a spiritual truth that can only be perceived spiritually. The Lord Jesus said,
No man can come to me except the Father which hath sent Me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto Me.
Therefore, said I unto you, that no man can come unto Me, except it were given unto him of My Father.
[Jn 6:44, 45, 65]
Apostle Paul writes,
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love HIM.
But God hath revealed them unto us by HIS Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct HIM? But we have the mind of Christ.
[I Cor 2:9-16]
While they are to respect everyone’s right to embrace whatever religiosity they choose, the sons of Yahweh are admonished to avoid all doctrines that are contrary to Christ’s and those who teach them. Apostle John writes,
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
Whosever transgresseth and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
[II Jn vs. 7-11]
Yahweh promises new life to all who obey the directives HE provides through Christ the Word and the Holy Ghost. The Lord Jesus said,
Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth My word, and believeth on HIM that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation: but is passed from death unto life.
[St Jn 5:24]
Apostle John writes with this assurance,
But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [but] he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
And this is the promise that HE <God in Christ> hath promised us, even eternal life.
[I Jn 2:20-25]
And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know HIM that is true, and we are in HIM that is true, even in HIS Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
[I Jn 5:20]
