Humble Thyself

In the secular world, people humble themselves in many ways to get the promotions they desire. Sometimes, they do it honorably and other times dishonorably. Either way, they do what they believe is necessary to obtain the things their hearts desires. In the Kingdom of Yahweh, humbling oneself in righteousness is the key to promotion. King David writes,

For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
But God is the judge: HE putteth down one, and setteth up another.
[Ps 75:6, 7]

Apostle Paul writes,

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time:
[I Pet 5:6]

The Elect of God is admonished to mortify the deeds of their flesh and carnal self, which is the part of mortal nature that is not and cannot be subject to divine rule.


Apostle Paul writes,

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death: but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
So, then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
[Rm 8:5-9]

The flesh and carnal nature are completely given to all things sinful, and therefore invokes unfortunate circumstance even death if not checked. Apostle Paul writes,

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth HE any man:
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed,
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
[Jam 1:13-15]

No person can of their own mortal strength effectively check their flesh and carnal nature without divine strength. This is why Yahweh offers divine strength to those who wholeheartedly worship HIM through Christ the Word and the Holy Ghost. The Lord Jesus said,

I am the Vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same brigneth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing.
[Jn 15:5]

My strength is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness.
[II Cor 12:9]


Apostle Paul writes,

O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
I thank God through Jesus our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
[Rm 7:24, 25]

But if the Spirit of HIM that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, HE that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by HIS Spirit that dwelleth in you.
[Rm 8:11]

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of HIS good pleasure.
[Phil 2:13]

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
[Phil 4:13]

This is why there is no reason why one should not be given to the practice of righteousness, and be reconciled to Yahweh and divine worship, other than the choice not to do so. King Solomon writes,

The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
[Pro 20:27]

If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not HE that pondereth the heart consider it? And HE that keepeth thy soul, doth not HE know it? and shall not HE render to every man according to his works?
[Pro 24:12]





The Lord Jesus said,

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
[St Jn 3:19, 20]

Apostle Paul writes,

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them: for God hath shewed it unto them.
For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
[Rm 1:18-20]

Per this discourse, the HAND of God is the power, means, and instrument by which one is able to mortify the deeds and desires of their flesh and carnal nature. In so doing, thy liberate themselves from the unfortunate consequences thereof. Apostle Paul writes,

And the servant of the LORD must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves: if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth.
And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
[II Tim 2:24-26]

Humbling one’s self under Yahweh’s Hand is necessary in order for them to be liberated from the power of sin, that is active in their flesh and carnal nature. The Lord Jesus said,

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
[Mt 26:41]

Apostle James writes,

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
[Jam 4:7]

Apostle John writes,

We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
[I Jn 5:18]

When one humbles himself under Yahweh’s Hand, they will learn that it is that same Hand of power, that is the means and instrument, by which they are exalted to higher dimensions of honor and glory, in due season. Apostle Paul writes,

To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life:
But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that worketh good…
For there is no respect of persons with God.
[Rm 2:7, 10a, 11]

Mortal exaltations are fugal. However, when THE LORD EXALTS one, no other will be able to hinder HIS exaltation, nor can they bring them down therefrom.
The Lord Jesus said,

These things saith He that is holy, He that is true, He that hath the key of David, He that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept My word, and hast not denied My Name.
Because thou hast kept the word of My patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation which shall come upon all the world to try them that dwell upon the earth.
[Rev 3:7b, 8, 10]

Christ is the perfect example of One Who humbles Himself under Yahweh’s Hand, which example His brethren are expected to follow. Apostle Paul writes,

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God;
But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Therefore, God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a Name which is above every Name:
That at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
[Phil 2:5-11]

And that He <Christ> died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto Him which died for them, and rose again.
[II Cor 5:15]

Because the Lord Jesus humbled Himself under the Hand of Yahweh, so too can every mortal who comes to Yahweh through Him, be exalted to divine glories now and forevermore.
